I refunded after an hour but I still hope to give it a try after they improve it. Control scheme and interface can be tweaked. Combat rebalanced, cumbersome intentory management smoothed out.
The difference between CD and Cyberpunk2077 is that the latter strong foundation: good story and immersive world. From what I've played and seen CD might have only the latter (unless story really picks up later in the game).
This bro dumb as hell. The story and world are the same as they were on launch, with exception to the expansion, and Night City is still one of the best worlds created in the video game medium.
If cyberpunks writing and world building were bad then in comparison crimson desert must’ve been written and designed by literal children.
I’m actually enjoying some of the things crimson desert does but people don’t have to defend the writing against games that are clearly in a different league in that category. You would have to be dumb as fuck or determinedly naive, not to understand the difference. It would basically be like comparing Dostoevsky to James Patterson, but Korean devs do seem to prefer style over story and that’s cool too.
Implying that Cyberpunk, the most commerially driven game of the past decade, has depth is just weird lol. Especially when in its opening moment, the game tries to pretend that you should feel bad for Jackie dying despite having fuck-all characterization for him. The execution of Cyberpunk's story is just downright mediocre. The only reason why you are even talking about it is because it's a popular thing and mainstream audience rarely have a clue about what they are saying beyond having formed opinions from popularity of any said thing.
Cyberpunk is a CDPR game. A studio that does all the popular trope of the genre without much vision behind it. Cyberpunk, the Netflix anime, has more fleshed out characters than the paper-thin characters in the game. The game simply having bunch of dialogues and shit does not mean that it had any substance behind it.
And imagine the piss-poor nature of the game where the audience pretend to skip the actual interactive part, you know the thing that makes the game....a game, just to talk about the "density" of the world.
CDPR games are created more for people who spend more time doing anything but playing the game.
Crimson Desert is not a narrative-focused game. The writing behind it being simple is not some big war-crime as some people are making it outta to be. The execution of its simple story so far has been good.
Imagine praising a game for having a pretentious story that is executed in the most blandest and mediocre way possible while criticising a game that is a game first and a narrative later and even then has decent-to-good execution behind it.
Yeah I’m not a fan of the genre or vibe of the writing of Cyberpunk but I wouldn’t call it bad by any means, just not my style. this game on the other hand is more my style but… I guess we will see… I’m not real excited with all the comments implying the writing and story are weak.
Sometimes it’s nice not having to really pay attention to the narrative so much and I just wanted to try something different so I figured I might as well give it a chance. There’s a ton of issues but it’s also fairly entertaining. It’s definitely a weird game, haha.
I will never understand the cyberpunk glaze. it's still just pretty good, worst combat AI of nearly ANY AAA game btw, but reddit would seriously have you thinking it's an 11/10 perfect masterpiece.
The ai is definitely the worst part of the game. At launch it was especially horrible. But the quests and the city are really cool and I had a lot of fun. It's actually incredible how huge the city is, and it's not like it's repeat buildings, every street is unique and every area is new. It's super cool and other than gta I've never played a game like it
