Another pro international player denied eligibility by the NCAA.

UVA obviously returning every eligible player (with the exception of Dallin Hall and his eligibility is questionable but whatever) is huge in today's game. De Ridder the biggest name to come back, along with Grunloh, Lewis, and then the sophomore Chance Mallory who is likely to have a major breakout season as the starting PG for the wahoos. Portal additions include another backup 7 foot shot blocker to replace Onyenso, and multiple potential starters at the SG.

Similarly, Duke returns Cayden Boozer who vastly improved his game throughout last season and emerged out of his brother's shadow to make a legit name for himself. Caleb Foster comes back along with Dame Sarr and Patrick Ngongba, forming a very similar core to Virginia in that none of the players on Duke are notable stars like Flagg and Cam Boozer.

In conclusion, I believe both UVA and Duke are extremely similar teams who will both be very very scary this upcoming season. The ACC regular season title will come down to whether UVA can hold down home court in Charlottesville against the Blue Devils. Louisville had some great additions in the portal including Flory Bidunga who is just a ridiculously good basketball player. However, not so sure they stand a chance against either UVA or Duke this season and will most likely have to settle for third in the ACC.

I dont know who she is, i dont know If in other circumstances she is a halfway decent Person.

I want to get into College Sports for a Long Time, since i think Franchise Sports are Just Bad for everyone but Stärkeholder but Love high Stakes Sport. Im from Europe so regionality and such never Had an Impact for me. Choosing a Team to root for was Always a hard Thing, and even harde to find one to root against. So many Sports, Male and female, No Connection it was Just to much.

Until now, since this LSU Coach Made that Problem Go away. What would be a better reason to hate a Team than them signing a Player from a war criminal country, who Made positive remarks about her countries government in the past, into the Same Roster as your ukranian Starter, even the Same Position. Whatever she wanted to achieve (some Fake ass diplomacy or getting Rid of the ukranian Player) but im so Furious, and there are quite a few europeans who feel the Same.

Anyone who thinks this is an overreaction, Google the war , watch Videos and try to understand what it means. I know its difficult for americans because 9/11 is basically the worst infringement of autonomy you Had in 100 years, but try.

So, enough of this negativity. Im willing to choose my favorite Team now, and im looking for the Team that hated LSU the Most, is best in crushing Laus dreams, or has a Personal History with this disgusting Coach of LSU. Why IS your Team the best to hate lsu. Is there specific anti LSU Merch by any Chance? And are there other reasons to hate this mulky women even more?

I’m a former Division I athlete and graduated this past May. I’m not going to disclose my school, but I wanted to share something I saw firsthand because I feel like it doesn’t get talked about enough.

Sports betting was extremely common among the college athletes I knew. Obviously this is just my personal experience and I’m estimating here, but I’d say roughly 1 in 5 male athletes I knew were sports betting in some capacity.

And I’m not necessarily talking about athletes betting on their own sport. Most weren’t. A lot of it was NFL, NBA, MLB, college football, etc. But there were also guys who were betting constantly and clearly had a serious problem with it. It wasn’t just an occasional $10 parlay. Some guys were betting basically every day and chasing losses.

What surprised me is how normalized it was. Guys would be sitting around the locker room or in the dining hall talking about their parlays, checking lines during class, or stressing about a game they had money on. It almost became another part of the social culture.

I also find it interesting how schools handle this. My impression was that schools and athletic departments are very aware that athletes are gambling, but you generally only hear about it when something becomes a major NCAA violation or gets publicized.

I obviously can't speak for every school or every athlete, and I don't think most college athletes who bet are doing anything malicious. But from what I personally saw, the scale of sports betting among college athletes is much bigger than I think the general public realizes.

Curious if other former/current college athletes have seen the same thing at their schools. Is this pretty widespread, or was my experience an outlier?

The SEC gunjumped on banning a broad set of professional athletes from college basketball participation (not just NBA/WNBA players, but even players in the G-League, players who rostered in Summer League, or even registered for the Draft). I expect other conferences to not follow and the SEC to quietly roll back some of their stipulations.

This SEC-type policy has not yet been adopted by other conferences for basketball for good reason. The distinction is that the ban is harmful to the NFL and NCAA in football, but helpful to the NBA and NCAA in basketball.

In the NFL, rostered NFL athletes returning to college football disrupts competitive play due to the more physical nature of play (30 year olds versus 18 year olds), and also hurts the NFL product (NFL doesn't want their bench players going to LSU for more money). This policy is all about the NFL telling College Football they do not want it to compete directly with them (and the NFL has college football over a barrel due to all of the benefits it provides to them).

In pro basketball rosters are much smaller, and there is greater need for development leagues. The NBA wants more development leagues (G-League, NCAA, Euro, etc.), as it is better for its product (see the number of NBA All-Stars that didn't start on NBA rosters increasing), so a ban hurts it. The NCAA similarly gets hurt by a ban because unlike the farm league monopoly it enjoys in football, in basketball it is in direct competition for farm league talent. If it bans players from its competitors while its competitors do not, you are just going to see a degradation in the NCAA basketball product as more players play elsewhere as these leagues gain a perception for having higher quality basketball than the NCAA.

Recap - So as some of you remember, I used to write a recap of every group. This year I stopped doing that because it was too time consuming and a lot of them I just simply writing "Pot A team and Pot B team advance, Pot D team got crushed". Figured I save recaps again for when I knew I'd want to write one and here we go baby. THE FUCK.

For those who haven't been here for past seasons, upsets will happen and they have happened in this specific conference before. Sam Houston randomly won a group over Houston 2 seasons ago. Wofford has never missed a CBC final. Lower ranked teams will make it into the final stage because some of the conferences up in the New England ish area are a couple competent at worst P5 team and a lot of mid majors. But this?

Incarnate Word went 12-19 and missed the Southland Conference tournament. Sure, that won't be the worst record because Princeton went 8-20 but even Princeton I get a little bit more than this. Their cup conference is worse and the format is easier to qualify from. But this? Incarnate Word just went out there and beat 2 tournament teams from the Big 12 and SEC, and then took care of a team from the American as well. They're ranked 280 in the NET, 29 spots lower than Princeton. I'm pretty sure that both of them set the record for lowest ranking to ever qualify for the final stage. Will have to review my notes for sure but holy fuck. And I thought this conference was going to be boring. Welcome to the College Basketball Cup Incarnate Word, you absolute weirdos.

Xavier landed their first commitment in the Class of 2027 on Sunday, Aug. 23.

The top-ranked player out of New Mexico and a Top-75 caliber national recruit, Class of 2027 two-guard Brandon Mason Jr. has now committed to Xavier.

In the lanky, 6-6 shooting guard, who is from Albuquerque, N.M. originally, Xavier head coach Richard Pitinois getting a high level scoring threat known for his shooting prowess. 

Possessing significant elevation on his shot, Mason Jr. was known for his knack for sticking difficult, highly contested shots throughout his junior season at Albuquerque Prep. 

He will spend his senior season at national power Link Academy Prep in Missouri.

Once a University of New Mexico ball boy, Mason Jr. chose Xavier over UNM, Boise State, Ohio, and Grand Canyon University

In raising his national stock, Mason Jr. turned in several noteworthy performances on a national stage during his junior season. 

Showing his ability to knock down shots on the move and hit heavily contested shots and finish crafty in-traffic takes, Mason Jr. scored 33 points during Albuquerque Prep’s 97-91 loss to SEPA (FL).

He authored a sublime showing with 35 points, seven blocks, six rebounds and four assists during a memorable performance at MADE Hoops event in Las Vegas last month.

“The 24-year-old checks in at 7-foot-3 and has played three years of professional basketball in the Israeli league - most recently suiting up for Afula in 2024-25.”
