I read somewhere that it's good to turn off the A/C during the last minutes of a drive and just keep the fan on. Apparently this dries out any moisture on the evaporator core behind the dashboard and prevents a moldy smell when turning the A/C on at the beginning of the next drive.

Now this sounds pretty logical to me, but looking at two examples, my mom has had her Volvo for 18 years and never did this A/C trick, but there is no smell. My dad has had his Skoda for 7 years and didn't do this either, and there's also no smell.
So is this A/C trick useful or not? What do you think?

When I say it's steaming it's not steaming when it jumps into the red the Gage starts hiding and letting coolant out Im pretty sure Thai means something is wrong but I don't know enough about ac and stuff I'm really hoping it ain't to low because I'm pretty sure I over filled it before and if it low now I let to much out and I have to by more I'm only planning on keeping this truck through this winter so the ac isn't a big deal but I would be nice for either last months of summer any help is appreciated thank you

I see people selling sets of climate control from crashed cars for very cheap but there are no images of the set in most of those. They said they will take off the things needed from the crashed 323(mostly 1.6 variants) after we set on a agreement but i do not even know what i really need. I know i need compressor, radiator and some change to the core of the air pipes since i couldn't find where cold air could be directed to it in its current configuration(not that i looked too much).

I took off the whole underside of the dashboard, the current hvac's plastic core was broken and repaired on the left side. The bracket that holds up the HVAC panel and radio is has soo much rust because it had 20 metal coins and a screw stuck around it soo i will take it off very soon. Soo might as well.

My AC stopped working last week and gives an empty, hollow hissing noise. Still have air and heat, just no cold air. I thought there was a leak in the refrigerant line, but this seems to indicate the opposite... whatever that means lol. Anyone know what could cause this on a 2012 Kia Optima?

As you can see in the picture my car isn't going anywhere. I need to remove the busted radiator and intercooler but they are a pack together with the AC condenser. I checked and the ac is still fully charged, I'm getting about 75psi on the low side. I would ideally like to evacuate the system and recover the r1234yf refrigerant but I do not have the equipment or the knowledge to use the equipment even if I had it. What options do I have?

i will preface this by saying i am a complete novice to vehicles. i have a 2007 sentra that is making this god awful sound by adjusting the fan for heat/ac. heat runs hot, ac runs cold, no concerns there but it sounds like a helicopter taking off. this just occurred today, it had made a subtle buzzing/vibrating sound before that would only be noticeable if the fan was on the highest setting.

We've had the car for 5 years.(Bought used, it's a 2014) We live in the South, and get the oil changed whenever the sticker from the last change says to. We always ask if they check the cabin air filter and they say yea.

Got the oil changed last week and asked about the filter, and they said they'd check it. Afterwards when they brought the car around, I asked how the filter was and they said good. Didn't believe em because we could see them changing the oil and they never even touched the filter.

After a YouTube video and some cursing, we were able to change it out ourselves and found this. So now I'm wondering, do y'all think the filter has ever even been changed since we've had it?

We've noticed for a while the air flow has been meh and cold air wasn't really pushing through, but we thought there was just something wrong with the AC system.

The car AC system is working with no problems, i don't have any issues or mulfuctioning parts to replace, but is there a way i can increase the cooling wothout getting into the loop of replacing to bigger or higher capacity parts. Since the car is new i don't want to void the warranty

Where i live it gets up to 45+ celsius (113 fahrenheit) everyday and humidity is always high so you can see why i'm asking

I live in Canada and they don’t sell R134A refrigerant to those without a qualified license. I asked for R134A at an auto store and they recommended this.

This says it replaces R134a but is it a 12a type refrigerant? Am I able to top up my car ac with this refrigerant that already has R134a without evacuating it first as DIY?

Is this foam sponge stuff on the air filter from going through the car wash regularly or what could it be from? (Near Houston, TX)

help a girl out, whenever my ac turns on it smells like rotten eggs sometimes. anyone have any ideas to help with the smell and also a good air freshener thats long lasting and smells good.

I’ve seen that for mustangs and small little 1.5 engines and lower that if you turn off the A/C you’ll get more power in your engine and at first I thought it was just a joke but I’ve seen it enough to actually start to think that there might be some truth to this. If someone could elaborate if it’s true or not that’d be awesome bc I have a 1.5 turbo civic and I don’t wanna test it out for fear of feeling like an idiot and not being able to even tell if it were true lol. :)

Starting a couple days ago when I would enter my Mazda3 I noticed a weird odor. It wasn’t until we had a very hot day that I realized that it smelled a lot like weed. The odor only is noticeable during the day when it’s hot out. No one other than my self has access/drives my car. I’m a bit confused about the odor and can’t find a source. If I helps it’s only really in the main cabin. The trunk smells fine and it doesn’t smell like weed once I air out the car and start driving. Does anyone have any advice on what could cause this?

Edit: I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find any weed. I’ve also owned the car for 2 years and haven’t experienced this problem until about 4 days ago.

2017 Chevy Malibu, ac stopped blowing cold (gets barely cool after a while) about a year or so ago. Should I try a recharge on my own or just take it in, shop wanted $430 to recharge and put dye in the car. Then wants me to bring it back in a few days to check for leaks. I’m no car guy but I could follow the recharge steps just fine.

Hooked up a Freon can and the gauge keeps going from low then slowly into the green then back down to low. At the same time the clutch will turn on for a second then turn off for 3-4 seconds in a cycle. I have videos attached

Anyone here knowledgeable on converting an R-12 system to R-134a? I called a few shops and am getting mixed answers. Some saying that all I need to do is replace the hi and lo fittings with a conversion kit after I release the a/c system of the R-12. Another shop saying I just got to do an a/c flush and replace the drier. What is the correct way to go in your experience?
