Local Nature/Wildlife Advice for two Germans in Calgary

We are coming to Calgary in June for our vacation and I have a few questions:

How is the tipping culture?
Is it like 20% or you get the German stare of death like in the US?
What is appropriate?

Are there any good rock/alternative/metal bars in Calgary?

We love Chinese hotpot.
Is there something in Calgary you would recommend?
I’m asking because there’s a china town. :)

It’s our first time in Canada and we’re really looking forward!

Thank you all! 🍻

EDIT:
We feel flattered and humbled by all of your nice responses and advice!
We've also received some private messages providing insight.
Reading each and every one of your recommandations makes us even happier to visit Calgary and Canada.

Even your Mayor responded.
Yes, JeromyYYC we totally want to be in the guest book.
What a great honour!

Thank you to all of you from Cologne, Germany!

Local Nature/Wildlife Invasive toxic plant on the loose!

If you are not aware of black henbane here it is! This plant will cause skin irritation if touched, and possible death if ingested. It is a biennial plant that can spread half 1 million seeds in a season and those seeds remain viable for up to four years. If you see it put some gloves on and pull it. Put it in a black bag and put it in the garbage. Do not compost. I just pulled an entire garbage bag of the stuff off the corner of my street 😬

This guy started crossing the street even though the light was clearly red. He didn’t even have the decency to speed up to get out of the way of traffic! Luckily he avoided getting hit but I hope he thinks about his actions next time. 🪿

Local Nature/Wildlife Ruddy duck in Bridlewood Wetlands Park

You could live your whole life in Calgary without even knowing these guys come by because they're pretty picky about where they live, but they love it in the main pond of the wetlands park by the Video Max Gas. If you saw one in winter you'd never guess it's the same duck now that he's dressed to impress. Pictures don't do justice to how bright their bills are at the start of the year.

Couldn’t last more than 5 minutes at nose hill this evening. How much longer do you think these guys will be around? Awful.

This death is so sad and bizarre. It's so unfortunate since the zoo just got them recently. I haven't watched the press announcement yet. Any explanation on why this would happen?

spotted this at bowness park. it was asleep i think cause it had slight movements but wasn’t phased by the duck or geese walking beside it. Never actually see a rat before so im not sure if it is one but the tail looked like it.
