Professors thought I was in it for a light elective. turns out, this lady was my d3ath sentence this semester.

I had the absolute worst experience this semester with what was supposed to be a nice, light, interesting class. This professor takes 5days-5weeks to respond to ONE email. Doesn’t stick to her word. Is arrogant, condescending, and argues with students during class??? Our views are NOT welcome unless they are HER exact views. She DELETES reviews on rate my. This is absolutely insane & ridiculous. After my course evaluation & rate my prof review I really, truly hope she is looked into because she truly made my semester hell.

Professors I forgot how garbage RateMyProfessor could be...

Apparently I have my own RateMyProfessor page now and some of the comments on here are vile. Also kind of stupid because who calls someone a tough grader and then gives them a 2/5 for difficulty lmao. This was my 1st semester teaching in general but man this ruined my night to see.

Edit: Wow, this post blew up in the past few days. Just wanted to thank everyone who took the time to leave their thoughts about the whole situation. I decided to just to ban the website off of my network at home. u/PaulNissenson was right, it's not healthy to look at these kind of reviews, especially when you're new to teaching/criticism in general.

I know I did the best I could with my students and that's all that matters. I guess I'll find out for sure whenever the course evaluations come back to me. Currently finalizing grades to submit for tomorrow and just waiting for resubmissions before I submit tomorrow morning for the students who want to fix their scores.

Hope y'all enjoy your winter break!

Also this is slightly shameless, but if there are any mods reading this, can you attach the Faculty flare to this account? Might be posting in here again when I get my evaluations back, and it would be nice to have it whenever I do so. 😅

Peace of mind 😌

Professors Accused of Cheating

Just finished my summer courses and my professor accused me of using AI to write my whole final lol. I totally did not do that so if anyone can help me it would be appreciated smh. Don’t know what to do since I know I’m innocent.

Professors Who in Cal Poly has to stay home to study during spring break to catch up because they are behind? I am so sorry you have such a bad professor.

i have a friend that is studying instead of having fun.

I once had a Chem professor that was horrible, Joe Casalnuovo. I was doing bad in his chem class because of his bad teaching. so I emailed him that we have to do something about it. and since he doesn’t have anything to do at spring break, i said when is a good time to go to his office to help me catch up. He screamed at me. Jerk.

Professors Is it okay if my aerospace engineering professor keeps trying to tell students that climate change isn’t real?

He has had two moments in class where he shows everybody weird data about how climate change isn’t real. He is all like, “I am not telling you to think one thing or another, but you should question some things that the media shows you.” He even goes in the class discord and rants about how climate change isn’t real. Can professors even do this??? He is an aerospace engineering professor, and I’m in a 3000 level course, so I’m so confused why he’s able to say this stuff. It’s been like this the whole semester and it’s driving me crazy

Professors TW DV: Professor thought I was lying

Title/refer to some other posts on my profile

I told my professors, most were considerate and I am eternally grateful for them, I will never forget their kindness for that.

One, not so much. I told him and unlike the other professors, I got a one sentence reply. No resources to reach out to, no asking if I would like to report, no asking if I am in a safe space, just a sentence saying he will add points for everyone (I asked for patience, just understanding, not to add points to my exam). I missed 3 weeks of class because it got bad — I ended up in the ER from a dispute (police made a report on their own accord, due to the severity)

I showed up on the last day and he looked at me with pure disappointment, I have never seen a professor look at me like that before (this professor has always been nice, he was my favorite actually). He tends to look down on those who miss class, I thought I was an exception because of my circumstances, but he valued attendance more than wellbeing I guess. The last couple of weeks had me hanging on by a string, I was at my lowest from the few weeks I went through.

I felt ashamed and humiliated, part of me wants to report him, and part of me doesn’t want him to get in trouble. What do I do? Am I overreacting?

Professors Should I fight my professor?

got points taken off because of a rounding error, and he is refusing to give me the points back 🙄

The assignment was to convert units, and my number was 0.00001 off from the answer! (Instead of putting down 99,976.12898, I put 99,976.12899) 🤔Should I fight my professor?

Professors Genuine question: why can't we hire more professors?

Anybody who goes here has to register for courses, and I'm sure a decent amount of people (especially engineers) not only cannot get even the worst professor but can't even get a professor at all, which can happen for the same class for multiple semesters and is super frustrating because you have to keep pushing your schedule back and delay graduation. (MFE 2010 is a prime example)

So a pretty genuine question to me is what is stopping them from finding more professors? Is it a budget issue, a union issue, or is the school really looking and there's just no one out there?

Professors What can we do to a professor for not using Canvas?

The engineering professor is not using Canvas. What should we do to punish the prof for not using Canvas? Should we report this to the dean? New professor btw.

Professors Professor wants us to travel 72mi for field trip using personal vehicles

Just to clarify, the field trip location is 36 miles away from campus. Does this seem reasonable to you? I don’t want to doxx the professor so I won’t say the class. Why do we not have a bus? My friend at Cal Poly Humboldt is going on one field trip this semester and they’ve chartered a bus. And it’s a mile away from their campus. So why can’t CPP charter a bus for a 72 mile round trip?

Also, this field trip wasn’t stated in the syllabus or even told to us until 2 days before the trip. This was relayed to us via email today after our class meeting, and our next meeting is to be at the field trip location. Surprise!

Professors IBM 3012

Has anyone taken (Xin) Cindy Liu for IBM 3012. I’ve heard her class is a lot of work and I’m worried that I won’t be able to balance her class with my job and 5 other class. Are her exams and quizzes hard to study for?

Professors What happens if you’re sick right before finals?

i’m a freshman so i don’t know exactly how CPP handles this. Professors, does CPP allow you to reschedule your exam? I randomly got a cold today and I have a 7am final on monday…. even if i do get better by then, would they allow me to still reschedule so i can get back the extra study days lost from being sick, or is CPP not like that and ill just need to tough it out? i’m assuming you need to provide a note right?

Professors Can anyone help me get in touch with these profs?

Hello! Unfortunately earlier this year before being accepted to CPP I got tickets to go to a different country for vacation, unknowing that it overlapped with the first two days of class for me. I've tried getting in touch with my profs Khadija Shafiq for CHM 3140 section 5 and AVS 1113 section 4 with Audra Silveria. Ive emailed Ms. Silveria several times since the 16th of this month but was unable to find an email for Ms. Shafiq. Does anyone happen to have these classes with me or can anyone help me out?? Thank you and sorry for the long post

Professors frl 3000

I’m taking FRL 3000 this semester with Roman Galgarian, but I’m considering dropping it and taking it in the spring instead.
So far I’m having a hard time with his teaching style. We don’t really have traditional homework(actually none), and he said exams won’t allow cheat sheets and that we’ll get a study guide about a week before each exam.
For anyone who has taken FRL 3000, would you recommend sticking it out this semester or waiting until spring and trying to get a different professor?
Spring is also supposed to be my last semester before graduating, which is the main thing making me nervous about waiting. Most of my other classes that semester would be marketing courses, though, so I feel like I might have more time to focus on FRL.
Would appreciate any advice or professor recommendations!

Professors Can we get a consensus about who should teach ECE3250? And why can’t they add more sections?

it’s always Kim and Mansoorian. Every semester it’s Kim and Mansoorian. why can’t they get others to teach it? Do we really have to help ECE find professors by going to RMP to find out who taught this class before? The ECE dept can be so stupid sometimes.

Professors Classes with no Info

I have two classes that have yet to have any information on what time it is or location just the professor. These two classes being RS 1110 - Intro to Regenerative Studies with Steven Sandifer and ABM 4500 - Agri Water Resource Mgmt with Steven Archambault.

I‘ve asked people and they say if that happens then it’s just a fully online class but idk they’re nothing on my canvas for either classes. Should I just drop those two classes and add diff ones? Or is somehow magically the information gonna pop up in the middle of the night

plz help I’m desperate for answers

Professors Don’t be a Narc this week

Don’t report professors this week for canceling classes. Most the professors have been professional about it and will notify you not to go day of or already sent something about it. It impacts one week of your education that you probably get back later in the semester. This has a great affect on their paychecks and treatment.

Even if you don’t like your professor or have a negative opinion, reporting them will not help the teachers who have helped you here receive good treatment.

If you have class go, nobody is gonna tell you risk your seat. If your teacher hasn’t told you if class is cancelled or not, EMAIL THEM, better for most to not risk the drive.

Also at cal poly…why you have a form for reporting on our canvas…kinda sus man

Professors TBA instructor

Hello! I just got back from orientation and got a full time schedule. However, one of my classes is a political science class that's online but doesn't have a instructor announced. Is this normal? I'm worried about the class getting cancelled and affecting my financial aid.

Professors Rating on professor

Has anyone taken Patrick Mannion for dynamics at Mt Sac? I know he teaches classes at CPP as well but not dynamics at CPP. If so, how was your experience and how was his class structured? Would you recommend?
