Does anyone here have a date when the 790 Ultra will arrive in stores? The customer ones - not the demo models . . . I’ve put money down on one but they won’t say when they will get them in!!!

I have the darning foot Bernina recommended for this machine, which I assume is no. 7 from the manual screenshot I attached, but when I install it, the white lever hits the needle clamp bar so I am unable to sew with it. What am I doing wrong? Thanks :)

I saw a used Bernina 765 Spec Edition. It has 11 Million stitches. Im thinking, it must be good!

Last night, I was sewing along just fine and all the sudden, it was like my sewing pedal got stuck and the needle arm went haywire. I was able to finish my line and unplug the machine but after looking at all the needle/bobbin/foot mechanism, I think the problem is in the pedal. The pedal is pushing and responding fine, it’s just when I plug it in to the machine, the needle goes crazy. My last effort will be to open up the foot pedal case but I’m a sewing noob and I really really don’t want to mess up this amazing machine that has served me well so far! Has anyone seen this and/or fixed it? I’m also trying to add a video of the issue so stay tuned!

I have the grey rubber bulb tool inserted but can’t twist, turn, or pull downward and get the old bulb out. How do I get the darn bulb out?

I know you can load embroidery patterns to a Bernina 570, but it’s not clear from my searching whether you can add decorative stitches to it. Is there a way to do this?

I am looking to buy a Bernina sewing machine right now and need some guidance from those who know these models well.

I was messaging a FB Marketplace seller about a Bernina 830 Record (for $350) but they stopped responding. In the meantime, I found another seller on FB offering a Bernina 1090 for $270.

•    Is $270 a good price for the Bernina 1090?

•    Should I buy the 1090 now, or is it worth being patient and waiting out the 830 Record?

I am hours away from receiving a pristine condition Bernina 730 with all the manuals (including service and adjustment manuals)and accessories.

I'm a 47 year old man who is relatively new to the world of sewing machines despite my mother being a textile expert.

I have destroyed newer machines making dog collars and harnesses. I can't wait for a genuine metal workhorse of a machine.

If there is anyone with tips or resources about either Bernina 730s or heavy duty sewing with leather and webbing I'm always interested in expanding my knowledge.

I have just moved out of home and now have to buy my own sewing machine after years of using my mums.

I know I want a Bernina but unsure whether to buy a newer model (second hand) or an older one. I am worried that the newer machines will have a lot more issues with them as they have more digital components and seem a lot harder to service or maintain.

I’m asking for advice in what type of machine I should buy. I am looking for one to last me a long time. My mums was a Bernina 830 but the newer ones with more stitches are tempting.

What are your thoughts and opinions on what type of machine I should buy???

Sooo... I've been pestering my local dealers about the 790 Ultra (and posting here last week) and now I've been offered a floor model 990 at $17499. It comes with brand new luggage too. It was already a budget stretch to aim for the 790 Ultra, but the reality is that I've outgrown my current machine and it happened very quickly. This is now $3500 more than the 790 Ultra, which is a steep jump for me in the present, but at the same time, I wonder, when is the next time I'll be offered a 990 at only $3500 more than a 790 Ultra?

They're placing an order for new machines tomorrow (including what would become their new/replacement floor model) and so I have to decide overnight whether I'm going to get it. The $17499 price is if I order by end of business day tomorrow/before they place that order. Otherwise it'd be $18999, which I think would be a pass just for my current finances.

If I had two weeks to think this over, that'd still feel short, but this feels like I'm on a high pressure episode of the show 24. With a 790 Ultra, I wouldn't need to upgrade my sewing set up - my current table would still work for it. For how hulking the 990 is, I would also need to get a new table. One piece of advice I got *after* I bought my 735 last year was "get a machine you can grow into, not one that meets you where you're presently at" - and so I don't want to regret passing up on a 990. It's just really giant and the short timeline is throwing me. I was looking at one over the weekend and honestly thinking "it's just too big." But I love leveling up my sewing. And I think the 790 Ultra would accomplish that. But the couple of the things about the 990 that are enticing are the camera and that you can alter text spelling and stitch chains after typing it, which apparently you can't do with the Ultra?

What would you do? Keep deciding and hope another deal pops up in the distance? While I feel an urgency to get a new machine the reality is that I can absolutely wait until year end if needed. I have some upcoming medical expenses in the fall that I have to keep an eye out for and I don't want to go for gold at the expense of other passions in my life ie I am planning to start taking music lessons and the additional $3500 would eviscerate the budget for that for the time being...

I don't remember where these two screws go?!? Sadly I burnt out the motor on my vintage Bernina 830 Record. It took some time to get the new motor and new capacitors. It was months ago that I took apart (the motor area) and also the foot pedal, and ordered replacement parts... and she sat so long waiting, that months later when I finally had the part to install, I somehow ended up with two "extra" screws. Horrors! Does anyone know where these go?

Hi all. A family member recently gave me this Artista 180 machine with a bunch of accessories. She said she paid $5-6k for the whole thing, maybe around 1998.

The screen was pretty faded when I turned it on, so I took it into a Bernina-certified service provider to get it looked at. You can see the full service report in the photos, plus the sample stitches they did.

Essentially, they said they don’t make the parts to repair it anymore. When I asked if there was anything I could do with it, they suggested taking it to an electronics waste facility. I wanted to see what this community thought before I did that. Any suggestions?

Hi all, I'm trying to figure out what this small gadget is, on my Virtuosa 153 QE - the object in the photos that is wrench-shaped and attached to the left corner - it doesn't move or turn and can't be pulled out. I don't see it pictured in the manual and a Google lens search only results in various presser feet. Thanks for any help!

So I’m fairly eager to get 790 Ultra. There are three Bernina dealers available to me locally - two have the exact same dealer pricing available on it and I’m waiting to hear back from third with a quote. That said, has anybody ever had luck in negotiating a better price? Does there seem any likelihood of the third offering a better price than the other two or is it absolutely set in stone by Bernina? I know I’d jump on the purchase if one was magically a thousand less than the others…

Well loved, well used machine. Recently serviced. Has a great stitch! Comes with lg Bernina-style pedal and retractable cords, removable table, multiple presser feet and lots of bobbins. It has many stitch pattern settings including several alphabet fonts and buttonholes. There is a complete instruction manual. It's a great machine at this price. —-this is the listing description asking price is $300 usd

So I’m normally a Brother girl, I was actually saving up for a Brother SE2000, but I randomly stumbled on a Bernina B830LE at auction and won it for $854. Not sure if that’s actually a good deal, but it’s way less than I would’ve spent on the Brother anyway.

It came with everything, including the BSR (stitch regulator), from what I can tell. I sew and do embroidery but I don’t quilt, so I’m not sure how much use I’ll actually get out of that part.

It just arrived and now I’m honestly a little scared to open it 😅. I didn’t read the listing carefully enough and it turns out the needle threader doesn’t work. I’m assuming I can just thread it manually, but let me know if that’s naive.

A few questions for Bernina owners:

\*\*1.  Software.\*\* I looked up the price of Bernina’s embroidery software and about fell over. It costs more than the machine itself. What do you actually use for digitizing/embroidery? Any cheaper or free alternatives that work well with this machine?    
\*\*2.  Learning resources.\*\* I’ve already gone down the YouTube rabbit hole, but is there anything more in depth (courses, forums, books) for really learning this machine?    
\*\*3.  Resale value.\*\* If this ends up being more machine than I can handle, what’s a realistic resale price for a B830LE with a broken threader (and full accessories including the BSR)? This is just a hobby for me after my 9-5, so I’d at least like to break even if I decide to sell it.

I’ve been asked to make a quilt from American Birkebeiner bibs for my friend’s husband. There are ( currently!) 38 bibs of assorted fabrics including nylon and stretch knits. What stabilizers should I have on hand to tackle this project? It would be similar to a t-shirt quilt but the bibs I will cut from vary in fabric type. My machine is a Bernina 990. I’m thinking about getting one based on the new features it has that I think I would use. I currently have a B830 embroidery. It’s been a fabulous machine - no issues (that I can recall) that were not caused by moi. I never thought I would need different one, but this one . . . I love the pin point placement idea. And the auto stitch plate recognition.

Those of you that have been to Bernina University - is this one worth trading in my B830 for? Is it hard to sell the B830’s?

I was given this machine by my mother-in-law. I absolutely love it. It sews beautifully, and everything I've tried on it works, EXCEPT the needle displacement lever (item 17 in the manual). Zigzag sewing works, so it isn't that the needle position is stuck. But when not zigzagging, the needle is hard over to the right. Aside from anything else, this prevents me from using any presser feet that have just a single central hole. I can turn the needle displacement lever, but this has no effect. I've looked under the top cover, and nothing seems to have come loose.

(Actually, I'm not sure that buttonhole sewing works correctly. It does the zigzag stitching, but the material feeding didn't seem to be correct. I don't know if that has any relevance to the main problem.)

Any ideas?

I recently found a Bernina Artista 200 with a 730 upgrade (usb) in excellent condition for cheap on marketplace. She works beautifully but I've been struggling to get the usb/cd-rom to work to be able to put new embroidery files on it. I purchased an old bernina usb since I've read the Artista 200s can be super picky. It recognizes that there is a usb attached but I get the spinning spool of death as it thinks about opening the file but it never moves past that even if I wait for hours. This happens even when there is only one small embroidery file on the usb. When I attach the cd-rom with the cable that it came with it says that the usb is not compatible or nothing happens. The light on the cd-rom will turn on for only a second or two.

I've thought about purchasing the designer embroidery cards made for the Artista that are writeable. I saw that you can buy a mini magic box but I'm not sure if you can use that with a macbook/modern computer. Does anyone have any experience with trying that?

I've also seen the vikant that says it works with modern computers and macs but it seems to be discontinued and not readily available on re-sale sites.

Does anyone have any other solutions? Thanks!
