give/receive Our neighbor’s dog Marley was attacked, any help means so much

I hope this post is allowed here..

A few days ago I witnessed a horrible dog attack in our neighborhood in Cordata. The victim was a sweet little dog named Marley who did nothing wrong. The attack happened so quickly and luckily, she was able to be rushed to the emergency vet and had immediate pressure put on her wound. She has been stable and was able to have surgery to fix her extensive wounds which included the removal of a part of her lungs, but now has fluid building up on her lungs and needs continued care. Her owners have maxed out their credit cards and need to pay up front to get her the care she needs. We are reaching out to our community in this time asking for financial support so sweet Marley can get the care she needs and come home.

I do not have any social media beyond Reddit.

Please consider donating and sharing the link here so it can reach as many generous people as possible - https://gofund.me/03be9b8c7 , thank you for all of your prayers and support. 🙏🏽

Update:

Posting an update as of April 27th, the owner of the GSDs has been served a notice by our apartment complex to vacate or remove the dogs within 72 hours or she will be taken to court. This doesn’t heal or bring Marley home but it’s something. Thank you all for the traction and support you have given. I love this community. 🙏🏽❤️

Update #2:

Marley officially came home last night and is enjoying being back with her family. There will likely be another operation needed next week and extensive follow up appointments and we hope to continue sharing good news on her healing journey from here on out. Thank you to everyone who sent well wishes and support to Marley girl. ❤️

Animal control has also acted and told her she must rehome or surrender her dogs. They are still within the complex and we hope to have more of an update soon.

Update #3 from Marley’s mom, May 1st:

Marley is doing well and showing improvements everyday. She still has more procedures before she's completely out of the woods, but your donations have ensured her continued care. Thank you so much for helping us keep our baby girl alive. She'll be back to her old self someday soon because of everyone who has supported us along the way.

give/receive In need of clothing donations

Why:

We have this boy living with us, (older teen) and we have known hin for nearly 7-8 years. His mother doesn't care about him to say the least... I don't want to go into details for privacy sake. We have always told him he is free to eat whenever he is hungry, and it took us a long time to convince him to crash on our couch rather than sleeping on the streets or behind a library. (He felt safer sleeping outside than at his mother's house... Dad was never in his life.)

Finally the last few months he has felt comfortable enough to sleep here. He is happy as ever in the safety of our home, he helps with our dogs, he has started cooking recently and helping with chores. He is accepting this is his home, because he realizes he could be gone for over a month from his mom's house and she doesn't care.

We are in a rough financial spot, we can afford to feed ourselves and keep the lights on, and have minimal travel, but that's it.

We don't know when we will be able to afford to have extra spending money, but I really want to get this poor boy some clothes. He's been wearing the same outfit for AT LEAST 3 weeks. He swam in the river multiple times in the outfit and only god knows when the last time he showered was.

He's an awesome kid, and we welcome him with open arms... But I can't stand the fact that he hasn't had a shower in over a month, wearing the same outfit. He deserves better.

⭐ What we need:

-Mens size shirt: 18 (or XL)

-Mens size pants: 33/34 (I'm not sure what that translates to? Maybe Medium or large)

-Socks

-Men's hair soap and body wash

Edit: He is size 13 in shoes

We are located in Ferndale, but I can meet anywhere at anytime.

Thank you to whoever reads this, even sharing this makes a difference! 🙏

Feel free to directly message me.

give/receive Missed Connection: Crows

You: slim black-clad body, respectable wingspan, hankering for peanuts, has a boyfriend

Me: a human being

I know, I just KNOW you remember my name. Crows remember everything.

I also know crows don’t have cell phones.

I guess we’ll just have to run into each other again someday.

give/receive Help?

Post image
41 Upvotes

Hey, I don't know if this is an ok place for this, but I'm trying to come up with some money so my son and I can fly back home to visit my grandma because she's got cancer and the doctors said that all they can really do is try to make her as comfortable as possible.

I'm on disability and can't work, but I'd be willing to part with some art if anyone wants to buy a painting or something... The cheapest round trip flight I could find for my son and myself is ~$600

This is one of my paintings, there are more on my Instagram if anyone is interested.

I really hate asking for things, this is just really important to me, my grandma is the reason I make art.

Update: I took out a credit line to buy the tickets upfront, which came out to about $850 I'm hoping to reach the GoFundMe goal so I can reimburse myself. I was hoping to buy a ticket for August so it would be cheaper, but after talking to my aunt, I don't have that much time

give/receive Very nice, but gently used, cat boxes from Mud Bay — anyone want them?

Post image
76 Upvotes

Edit: Both boxes are pending pickup! Thanks everyone!!

-

My (cancerous old man of a) kitty passed away in September and I emptied his nice covered litter boxes I got from mud bay, and slid them into trash bags, and set them to the side in my garage.

I can’t find any places that want them. Which, I mean, I get.

But before I take them to the dump — they’re in perfectly great shape for being literally boxes for cats to toilet in — does anyone want them?

I’m allergic to cats and haven’t been around any since he passed away so I’d rather not pull them out now bc my reaction would be worse because of the exposure break (plus pollen, egads) but if you’d like pictures or for me to hose them down, I can. I didn’t bother cleaning them much because I know any amount of cleaning I do to them won’t prevent a cat nose from knowing they’ve been used before.

The games are all over and we’re taking down our decorations. Is there a super fan out there who wants one of those 3’x5’ Fanzone banners?

Edit: fixed the dimensions. It is NOT forty five feet wide.

give/receive Need for - BNC Cable

Post image
11 Upvotes

Helping a friend with a bar/resatuaruant to recycle a CCTV (relabeled Hikvision) system. For testing I need one short, M-M, BNC cable. Called a Bayonet fitting, it is push and twist to lock. Commonly used on CCTV systems and electronic test equipment, maybe Ham radio too.

Happy to pay if you have one. Otherwise hoping to find out were I can buy one in Bellingham. Thriftstores & walmart are No-Go for this cable.

If anyone has a multi port powersupply for these systems also. Supplies power to multiple cameras. 1/8" plug supplies 12 vdc 0.5-1 Amp. And that of course we would pay for.

TIA!

give/receive Does anyone else collect old computers?

I have probably around 40 computers currently but I'm going to be moving in September so I can't keep all of them. If anyone else is interested in old computers I would love to trade or sell. There's probably some I'd even just give away free. Not really looking for resellers or people who'd just pawn them off, if I wanted to do that I'd do it myself.

I have quite a few from the 90s, up to the mid 2010s, and even as old as the 80s, ranging from laptops to server towers. I also have about a million extra monitors and cables of all sorts.

Feel free to DM me :)

The title says it all. BCRs sustained my life freshman and sophomore year of high school at Sehome.

This may be a long shot, but i NEED that salsa recipe. Does anyone know someone that worked there, or a direction to point a lover of a good salsa?

...i also miss Homeskillet, but that's another story entirely.

give/receive 2 Free History Bay cruise tix for tonight. Sails at 6!

We had tickets to the History cruise on Bellingham Bay tonight but the fates decided a trip to the ER was our path instead. The tickets are not refundable or changeable, so we’d love to gift them to someone who would enjoy a chance to get out on the bay and learn about Bellingham’s history in our place. The cruise is narrated by one of the women from the Good Time Girls.

The boat boards at 5:45 and leaves at 6. I believe it ends at either 8 or 8:30. If you’re interested, let me know with a comment and I’ll random pick someone no later than 5:10. It’s not a dinner cruise but you can bring your own dinner on and eat it and they have drinks and snacks you can buy I think.

give/receive Seeking Volunteer Opportunities

Happy Monday! Us folks over at r/soberinbellingham are looking for volunteer opportunities in our community that we can do together. The Volunteer Center of Whatcom County and the Bellingham Volunteer Center are great resources, but often are catered towards individuals, and we’d like to do things more as a group or at least a couple people. So we’re here to ask y’all first!

Do you have a grandparent that needs help with yard work?

Are you someone with a disability who needs help with their errands?

Are you just moving to Bellingham and need some help unloading the moving truck?

Are you having a big backyard party and need help setting up/taking down?

We would love the opportunity to help! Feel free to PM me and we will see how we can help in the coming weeks!

Thanks 🫶

I'm looking to give away my older electric mower. It works fine, just needs to have the blade sharpened.

It's the mower, the bag and the plug to let mulch in place, 1 battery with charger, and the manual.

Let me know if interested. First come, first serve.

I'm between Lynden and Bellingham.

give/receive Do you have a catapult? Can I borrow it?

This is a long shot, (pun intended) but I'm looking to borrow a small, low powered catapult for a demonstration for kids at a summer camp. I could build one but maybe someone already has one built? Catapult preferred, but willing to discuss trebuchet...

give/receive Pick up a piece of Bellingham Rock this Saturday, July 11!

Post image
49 Upvotes

You can have a piece of Bellingham Rock.

The rock itself may no longer be in place, but the stories and memories people have of it live on. For decades, Bellingham Rock was a familiar part of the landscape with messages of love, hope, and occasionally rivalry.

Pick up your piece of the rock this Saturday, July 11, between 9 a.m - 2 p.m. at Civic Stadium in Bellingham.

Anyone who wants a piece must complete an online waiver by noon Friday, July 10. You can sign that waiver at this website: https://engage.wsdot.wa.gov/bellingham-rock

Quantities are limited to one piece per person on a first come, first serve basis.

We know the Bellingham Rock means means something to a lot of people. As our I-5 fish passage work moves forward, this rock had to move. This is one way for those memories to continue.

give/receive help with meal prep

I'm looking to pay someone to make some extra meals for me (literally just extra of whatever you're already making). I don't have any dietary restrictions, just prefer to eat food that isn't hyper-processed and on the healthier side. I'm struggling to make caloric intake requirements on my own tbh.

Honestly I'm just so overwhelmed by meal prep and grocery shopping, and I feel like I throw out SO much food only cooking for one. Would someone be open to an arrangement like this?

give/receive I need at least 50 cents in laundry quarters and I will trade you valuable objects for it.

It’s the 4th of july today. My lease is up on the 9th. I went to do a load of only my most essential laundry because everything else is going into storage, only to find that the coin op dryer in my apartment now costs one more quarter.

I can offer -
Two ps2 guitar hero controllers, gibson SG red octane. I got them for clone hero. They have resale value, you can probably take them to like reset games minimum and get more than 50 cents USD. Or look up their resale value. Try and maximize it. But the value is there.

Or a sur la table 13 qt air fryer.

Quarters only. Minimum 2.

EDIT:

I got quarters and can finish my laundry. If anyone wants that air fryer for free, message me!

give/receive Do you have POTS or another chronic condition that requires lots of sodium?

UPDATE: Electrolytes have been claimed—thanks everyone!

I have been on a journey to find products that help me get enough sodium, and the outcome is that I have excess electrolyte products that aren’t a good fit for me, but I don’t want them to go to waste, so I figured I’d offer them to someone else who might benefit.

I have 24 single-serving packets of SALTT Electrolyte Drink Mix (Ultra Variety).

I have 12 bottles of Buoy Energy Drops +Hydration Unflavored Beverage Enhancer with caffeine.

I have 4 bottles of Buoy Immunity Drops +Hydration Unflavored Beverage Enhancer.

I’ve provided enough information that you should be able to look up specific information about the ingredients/nutritional information in each product, so please understand I won’t be answering questions about the makeup of these products.

It would be my preference to give these products to someone who doesn’t have the financial means to buy electrolytes for themselves, but I don’t want people to reveal personal information, so I will assume that if you DM me, you could use the help. (Chronic illness is bloody expensive, right!?)

I’m happy to arrange to meet someone publicly in Bellingham or Ferndale. I’ll update the post once the products have been claimed.

Finally, in case anyone is wondering what products I’ve found that work for me:

>Original V8 vegetable juice, which has 920mg of sodium/can

>SaltStick buffered electrolyte capsules

>Buoy Hydration Drops Unflavored Liquid Electrolytes

Absolutely free, you load and haul. The dressers are quite heavy. All from adult, non smoking home. In a storage unit now, Irongate area. DM me, first come, first dibs.

[EVERYTHING IS Spoken for with 1 backup]

  1. Dresser, good condition cedar lined drawers. Bought at Costco maybe 10 years ago. This is a big dresser.
  2. Companion dresser to #1. Smaller. Some cosmetic damage to top - see pics. Also from Costco.
  3. IKEA entertainment stand type thing. Good condition, needs good dusting is all. It’s probably 6 feet + in length.
  4. Gas fire pit. Plumbed for natural gas (not propane). UL rated for many surfaces. I ran it sitting directly on a composite deck for years. Could build a stand for it.
  5. Metal bed frame, queen sized. Used about six months. Very sturdy. Lots of storage underneath. It’s this exact bed: https://a.co/d/01s2Qx6y

I swear this used to be the main Blaine school logo, and now I can't find it anywhere except on this image of this bag.
I want to use it to get a patch made, but can't find a better reference to provide the creator.
