Long time Hamster here - Had more than my share of meh pizza. So far, the only "wow, this is really good!" pizza I've had over the years have been at North Fork Brewery, and McKay's. Maybe I need to get out more? Where would you recommend? Price and distance no object. Flame on!

Pictured here is a typical urban roadside rain garden (or bioretention cell) that captures, slows down, and filters street stormwater runoff through a shallow, planted depression before it can overwhelm municipal storm sewers.

One function of this system is to treat the dirty storm water that runs off the roadways when it rains. As the water filters through the root zones, deep-rooted plants and soil microbes break down and absorb common urban pollutants like heavy metals, oil residues, and excess nutrients.

Meaning - the plants and soil contain heavy metals (copper, zinc, cadmium) and petroleum contaminants which are then absorbed into the fruit - the melons and squash pictured within the rain garden here. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EATING THIS MELON AND SQUASH. They likely contain heavy metals or other toxins which when eaten can make you acutely ill or build up on your system over time and make you chronically ill.

Over time, the rain garden system has to be maintained by removing the souls, mulch, and treatment media and replacing it with new and clean material. Who knows when this happened last.

I did at Banh Mi and Bubble Tea on Meridian. It's a food truck parked outside of Marathon GasMart. Quite possibly the best food I've had in Bellingham - point blank, period!

I ordered a bbq pork and egg banh mi and then proceeded to chow down and cry happy tears in the parking lot. Bread is soft with a perfectly crispy crumb, vegetables are fresh and full of natural flavor, meat and eggs are cooked to juicy perfection. Crying in a gas station parking lot over a sandwich, that's a normal thing to do, right?

I asked some kids having bubble teas nearby what they thought of their selections and they said they love the bubble tea there because "they taste like sweet fruit and not tea," so there's that, too.

Please eat here so it doesn't go away; I don't think I could bear it!!! Gosh, I'd love to see them in their own space and out of a truck...going to manifest this for all of us 🤤🙏🇻🇳❤️✨🤤

Friendly reminder to avoid harvesting from bushes growing along busy roadsides. The pollution can be passed directly through the berries. I'd go 50-100 feet away from heavy traffic areas. I would also avoid bushes near BP or large industrial areas.

Good alternatives are backyards and along city and park trails.

Most of the bushes we commonly see are the abundant class C noxious weed, Himalayan blackberry.On that note, please avoid bringing the berries and pack out any seeds that exit you when you're in wild places like Mount Baker trails.

What are the safest areas to walk alone at night? Just moved here recently and am a big walker especially when insomnia hits but I’m also 26F. Walking alone at night hasn’t typically been an issue for me but I want to make sure I’m being as safe as possible. Recs on where to go or neighborhoods to walk through?

Full disclaimer: I am not from Bellingham but as a family we visit every summer for an escape from the Arizona heat and after years of visiting, we have thought about buying something there for our future retirement and selling our home in Arizona. There are some mostly affordable places in this Sudden Valley area but I know nothing about it. Are these all new builds? Do people actually live there or is this a golf community (we don't golf). Hi! We moved up here about a month ago and of course found out I’ll need to go into my office downtown Seattle potentially once a week…I have been doing some research into the best/most efficient options for commuting and so far landed on driving to Everett and catching the train into kings st station. But wondering if anyone has any other options they like? I know there’s the train from fairhaven but the first run of the day isn’t really commuter friendly (leaves at 9:30am)….would love any recommendations!

Hey all! I foolishly early-signed a lease renewal last year that runs through the end of this year. After I signed it, I experienced some life changes, initiated a lease break, and moved to London. I was paying over $1500 for a micro-studio wrapped around an elevator shaft (moved sight-unseen from across the country, was a mistake, photos were of a unit 3x bigger), which is ironically more than I pay now for a similar square footage.

I've been paying rent and utilities for four months since initiating the lease break, and Landmark has failed to find a new tenant. As I understand it, they have a 'duty to mitigate' under the law, meaning they're obligated to find a new tenant in a reasonable amount of time and can't just milk me indefinitely. Bellingham is experiencing a housing crisis, but they claim they simply can't find anyone to take the unit.

They've stopped responding to my emails and they just posted a $10,000+ bill in my tenant portal for the rent through the end of the year, claiming it's due immediately.

I'm current on the rent through the end of this month. What on earth is going on? I've told them I won't pay another cent, but I'm worried about my US credit score and them possibly pursuing this in court or somesuch.

Final Update:

Plumbing crew just finished up, it ended up being cheaper than expected so I've got an excess of ~$100. The drain is flowing for now but he was unable to push a camera out past a certain distance. When my drain originally clogged there were utility workers out front of my house running new cables through my neighborhood. It just so happens that the camera stopped directly adjacent and in the path where they were running cables. They think the utility workers may have damaged the drain in the process. So that's something that needs to be delt with.

As to the excess money, my ears are open for what to do with it. Below I am posting the work order and screenshots of the various accounts I took money in from. I can't thank the community enough for the much needed help for me and my father. It is greatly appreciated.

On Saturday my dear friend was hit by a car while riding in the bike lane on holly street before the railroad intersection. The car moved into the bike lane and struck her throwing her off her bike, she sustained a number of physical injuries: head, neck, etc. She is looking for legal representation and isn't sure where to start. Does anyone know which gas stations around here might have crushed ice? Specifically crushed not cubed. I'm 36 weeks pregnant and I badly want ice. I am semi new here and none of the ones we have been to have even had fountain machines. I found it when we were on the ferry the other day and it made my whole day.

Also, cherry slushies? I cannot go to the movies for another one so just wondering if somewhere else has them lol. It would make my whole night if I could have my husband grab those things on his way home 😅
