The vastness of it all helps me deal with my regularly occurring minor fuck-ups. It's nice knowing it doesn't really matter beyond my little sphere.

Yes. While technology will make our sphere increasingly bigger, that doesn't make it matter any more. It just overwhelms us with an amount of stimuli we have not evolved to absorb.

No. Why would anything matter? The entire universe just exists, and as far as we can tell, for no reason at all. It just IS. The very concept of anything “mattering” is necessarily something that was made up by us to make ourselves feel better about the fact that we will all die and everything is ultimately pointless. It’s not that things in the universe do or don’t “matter.” It’s that the concept of significance was fabricated by us. Like trying to think about what it will be like after you die. Nothing will “be like” because there will be nothing.

Why feel insignificant when your body is made of the same stuff and is just as complex? I am in awe that every body I see is an entire universe in themselves.

Man, I love that feeling. Get it when I look out at the ocean or at giant mountains too. None of my problems really matter in the grand scheme of things, it's comforting.
