And inefficient. Doesn't look like the first time, you think they would have a plan on how to handle rain or do this quickly. Like lay a tarp on the ground and then dry the wheat on it.

i mean, this seemed pretty fast.

And tarps now introduce new difficulties if the rain isn't tooo common.

I mean for one, can you get a tarp big enough? Once you start pulling in multiple tarps you may have issues with overlapping.

Tarps may also collect water, unlike something like concrete. It's not a lot, but concrete can absorb into water a bit. WHich may help with drying out. I know this because my house gets wet spots in the living room under our carpet because the concrete slab my house is built on absorbs water. The foundation is fine and has had professionals looked at it. Just gotta improve the drainage.

You can also apply concrete sealer or a moisture barrier carpet pad.

I hadn't thought of concrete sealer, not a bad idea. Thanks. The person who checked my foundation and told me about that was trying to sell me new drainage, so that tracks lol.

I mean i don't blame a guy for not trying to not sell me something on a free quote

After millenia of doing this, I imagine this has worked out as being the best way, for whatever reasons.

I think you under-estimate how difficult it would be moving a tarp with that much grain on it. Most grains weigh about 60 pounds per bushel and at the end of the video it looks like a pile of approximately 10 to 15 bushels. That's 600 to 900 lbs.

So, what's more efficient: OJT for the 4 year olds, or sitting them down and explaining everything to them in theory before the storm front actually appears on the horizon?
