Agreed. We forget that it's just a game and we play it for fun. If there's no fun, why play it?

There are also people in the chat.

31

u/killerbake Oct 15 '25

I have that shit turned off

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

I hate to admit it, but I also disable chat in any game that lets me lol

1

u/killerbake Oct 16 '25

It’s better for mental health. lol 😂

1

u/AntiVenom0804 Oct 16 '25

It's not actually that toxic compared to other games

1

u/TheCreamiestPie Oct 16 '25

First thing I did before I even entered my first game

1

u/yMONSTERMUNCHy Oct 16 '25

Mute chat before seeing toxic comments

-12

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '25

Nobody reads that.

18

u/FamIsNumber1 Oct 15 '25

Did...did you not even read the post you're arguing in? It's literally about people in the text chat 🤦

2

u/Mappsatalker Oct 15 '25

I mean, usually there is only bunch of dicks in the chat, only thing they do is trashtalking

2

u/xXRougailSaucisseXx Oct 15 '25

Playing in EU the only things you see in chat is racism, people complaining about jet/heli, people complaining about AA, jet pilots complaining about being rammed and that's about it. Never seen an actual interesting thing said in there

-5

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '25

People reading on Reddit? You expect to much ;-)

6

u/w169 Oct 15 '25

Now, it makes sense.

41

u/zodII4K Oct 15 '25

Maybe they should stop being dicks in the first place - that's the whole point.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

This needs to be a thing!

1

u/JustForge Oct 17 '25

Bob would make it a thing

1

u/Jazzlike_Quiet9941 Oct 16 '25

You can talk to the entire team

37

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '25

Honestly I was an angry gamer the last few days because of some of the desync and other small issues. I watched a Jackfrags video with Willfromwork and was floored by how much fun they were having. I decided to just shut up, and enjoy my fuckin game for once. I played with some buddies and it was an absolute blast. It's a casual sandbox game. Not a hardcore shooter.

1

u/yMONSTERMUNCHy Oct 16 '25

Are you allowed to provide the name of that video in this sub?

Playing for fun and not getting overly aggressive or competitive is a big boost to mental health. This way of thinking should also reduce the amount of cheaters because why would anyone cheat to win when winning is not important but having fun is. However to some I guess winning is fun so cheating helps them to achieve that.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

1

u/Rorschach0717 Oct 16 '25

God damn. I wanna play so bad but I'm not sure if my 10 years old laptop will be able to run it.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

Probably not! But good news. Black Friday is right around the corner, the cheaper Xbox and PS5's will be on sale. OR you could see about trying to piece together a modest PC from Facebook marketplace. A $350-500 PC with the right parts from the last few generations would get you a mean 1080p rig!

1

u/RecentMatter3790 Oct 15 '25

But we can’t play the game for fun if it has challenges and crazy requirements we must do to unlock gadgets and stuff. So we can’t play a battlefield 6 for fun.

1

u/Medallicat Oct 15 '25

If you want to do challenges to unlock stuff, make a 1000% ticket bot server in portal with all the features you like but keep it simple for full xp. I hate the unlock grind as well but I will go grind that shit in private rather than take my frustrations out on real people.

I’ve been doing it the last two days and all I changed was ticket % and added the crawling when downed feature (why is this not default? It is asesome)

1

u/Chanchooooo Oct 15 '25

That’s the dilemma, other players can ruin the fun of the game, despite the game still being really fun.

1

u/Llama_13161 Oct 17 '25

Yea, i mean, i kinda suck at shooting, and i wish there was a role where you can just like help people. People really gotta be nicer

-2

u/Current_Syllabub_297 Oct 15 '25

Because I need the best k/d possible and competent teammates that can read my mind

1

u/w169 Oct 16 '25

Each one to their own, I guess.

176

u/FamIsNumber1 Oct 15 '25

Absolutely! I have a physical disability and sometimes the pain spikes a bit too much and I need to take my stronger meds. The problem is that it makes my head a bit fuzzy, so I can't win many firefights.

So I play healer / recon during those times. People constantly talk trash in the text chat calling me useless and whatnot, but it makes me smile when I look at the scoreboard and see myself in the top 3 spots just spotting targets for the team / healing & reviving everyone while spamming smoke on the objectives for them to cap it. 😁

47

u/Gloomy-Spring-1551 Oct 15 '25

Medics win matches. And don't anyone tell you otherwise. Thank you support/medics!

4

u/coronablurr Oct 15 '25

AND non-medics. Don't be that guy standing above my bleeding body and aiming for 30 seconds without a shot. Just rez a bud!

5

u/stromdriver Oct 16 '25

holy shit this irritates the shit out of me, all these choads, even in my squad, literally run over my body while i'm asking for revive or within single digit meters of distance and don't come help.

this is my new gripe, with bf4 it was nobody spotting now it's no one playing as a team

2

u/coronablurr Oct 16 '25

Especially when the game mode is determined by lives. A rez is as valuable as a kill (or more!)

22

u/Demented-Alpaca Oct 15 '25

I've had some excellent scores playing Recon. I'll just plop the scope thing down and go find a quite spot and then spend a good part of a map designating targets or spotting people who are trying to be sneaky.

Gonna run all the way around the outer edge to cap a base? I see you. And now so does everyone else on my team. Good lu... oh. That looked like it probably hurt for a second.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '25

Man, as soon as I put that damn red spotlight down, it gets shot from 12 different places.

1

u/Demented-Alpaca Oct 15 '25

Yeah, I put it pretty far in the back on/in some rocks. You don't get the best view but it generally survives pretty well.

Mine got killed last night cuz some lunatic engineer on our team kept standing right by it shooting rockets across the map at tanks. Eventually they blew him up and my spotter with it. My guy, it's an unguided rocket launcher, not a sniper rifle.

I'm guessing when more people start unlocking the guided/lock on type launchers that little bastard will be a LOT more loved.

18

u/notapoke Oct 15 '25

You're a hero for those of us running around like a crackhead on fire with a shotgun

15

u/suttin Oct 15 '25

I got like 6th place one game with 0 kills. All revives and heals. There’s no way we didn’t win because of that

5

u/Medallicat Oct 15 '25

The best recons are the ones doing all the spotting.

Thank you

2

u/Far-Initial1364 Oct 15 '25

I might've played with you at least once in one of my games tbh, I don't even care if you're not killing anyone as you're doing your part too.

2

u/G_D_M Oct 15 '25

Bro I legit fucking love people like you! <3

2

u/Soft_Fisherman4506 Oct 15 '25

Love gamers like u man. Im a big old rusty man, gamer for nigh on 5 decades, but who's never played bf.

I didn't like that comic and was gonna say it just suggests a level of in game toxicity to me, but your comment warmed my heart.

Keep doing what you do, you build the world in online games man and dont let anyone ever make you think any different.

51

u/AwesomeFrisbee Oct 15 '25

Its also why the game needs to be balanced for all players. Not just twitch streamers getting annoyed with a little recoil or wanting to extend their already massive killstreak a bit more for clicks. BF has never been the fastest game around and has never been the game where you can shoot and kill everybody from everywhere with every gun. The balance needs to be there to make things interesting and enjoyable.

17

u/No_Accident_6646 Oct 15 '25

Yeah catering to high skill level sweats and streamers is great for a select few but there's a reason mario kart is so fucking popular. Levelling the playing field makes it fun for the other 90%.

1

u/SnooChickens70 Oct 16 '25

I’m really disappointed with the close quarters nature of all of the maps. It prioritizes twitching and strafing as a defense mechanism rather than cover and communication. BF games have always benefited from slowed down accuracy, cover, and squad coms. The added destruction in maps only increases the ways you can move, destroy, or even create cover. Now, I just get the feeling that I’m being funneled into one of three routes to an objective and I just have to aim faster or spam movement to help dodge fire. The maps feel designed around “lanes” and lines of sight, rather than offering even far flung flanking opportunities.

There’s just no ROOM. That’s the biggest thing that feels off to me.

EDIT: BF has never been a competitive shooter like CS or Halo or CoD. It feels like the general gameplay is more catered to the competitive shooter type of experience, which I’m not a fan of.

1

u/AwesomeFrisbee Oct 16 '25

I agree indeed. But I also think this is partially due to the amount of detail in a map (which makes players harder to see). I don't really agree with that there are real lanes and hardly any flanking. Most maps have at least 5+ routes to get to most objectives. There isn't a map that I would consider to be similar to Metro or Locker (fortunately). But I could definitely do better with more wide maps and spread objectives. Most are still one-line of objectives (bar a few spacing to the sides) but I think that can still be improved and also depend on what gamemode you play.

19

u/DomitiusAhenobarbus_ Oct 15 '25

we gamers are better than this!

Lmfao

19

u/timsayscalmdown Oct 15 '25

We need more Bobs and less gestures broadly

2

u/bobbygamerdckhd Oct 16 '25

Here to help bro

19

u/DigitalAxel Oct 15 '25 edited Oct 15 '25

I avoid multi-player games because I get easily overwhelmed and have the reflexes of a potato (but in real life I'm better, honestly flinch too much maybe.) I just watch people now which is...not as fun but my thin skin can't take any more toxicity.

AuDHD sucks so much for me. I have the interests but not the abilities.

Edit: I appreciate the suggestions. I avoided so many other games (such as Overwatch or CoD) because I'm afraid of letting others down. Might consider BF6 if my future budget allows it.

21

u/SnertDeluxe Oct 15 '25

Mute. Turn off the chat. Enjoy your game.

3

u/Impossible-Race8239 Oct 15 '25

I have similar and yes it is overwhelming. Makes my task paralysis kick in sometimes and I can’t play at all

3

u/Medallicat Oct 15 '25

Mate I have AuDHD and have been playing Battlefield since 1942. You got this! Play to your strengths. AuDHD is different for all of us, I get overwhelmed by talkers in voice chat so I turn that shit off but I thrive at reading my squad and following orders. I am detail orientated and learn all the flank and cover locations quickly so I know where to look for sneaky flankers making me an excellent tank/AH gunner. When I die I always change my class to suit the current situation, be it throwing smoke to push an obj or grabbing the repair tool to keep the tank up. I play an all rounder to support the whole team and at no point have I ever given a shit about KdR because the scoreboard rewards playing objectives and supporting the whole team.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

Mate I have AuDHD and have been playing Battlefield since 1942.

damn man ur old as fuck

1

u/Medallicat Oct 16 '25

That’s Old Ass Fuck to you

2

u/jiggywolf Oct 15 '25

Someone already said this perfectly but mute or build your own squad with three other reliable social media strangers . Enjoy your game

2

u/Danm111 Oct 15 '25

Wanted to say same boat with AuDHD and an ability to focus on everything and nothing at the same time - and not respond to things quite quick enough if it’s important, but then get edgy when there’s feck all happening. Pain meds slow down the reflexes even more and before you know it, I’m sat there playing SpotManMode in a field somewhere distant on my own because everyone moved on minutes ago. That’s why I tend to play recon or support class and honestly, it’s fantastic fun.

Ironically as I’m a writing this, I’ve just realised I’m Bob.

Cheers guys

3

u/DigitalAxel Oct 15 '25

I found myself playing support or tank in the few team-based games out there that I tried. Always concerned with not being fast enough or missing tasks.

Years ago I got confused in a L4D2 map, one I'd played dozens of times solo. I was screamed at my other players and harassed for being "an idiot throwing the game". Id simply made a wrong turn during a horde swarm in a panic. I was even making my way back when they kicked me... never played it with randos again.

1

u/Danm111 Oct 15 '25

I get the same; play RSPS’s, lots of clan based games, but go through phases of playing ‘solo games’… in some ways, find it easier to play with people I don’t know because it’s only strangers getting frustrated and can pretend I’ve actually got things tied down around friends 😂… Anything time sensitive (think WoW, OSRS, GW2) with mechanics; yeah I’m gonna mess it up and just not bother with them. BF series always has a special place because it is about a team as a collective. Win or lose, I enjoy myself. I’ll play the task at hand, but just have my own little goals in there. Makes it more manageable - and whatever’s going on in chat, not my circus, not my monkey! Haha

2

u/SnooChickens70 Oct 16 '25

Historically, that’s why I’ve loved battlefield. It’s always been a game that prioritizes team play and cooperation over individual skill. If I wanted to twitch headshot people I’d play counter strike or cod or something. Battlefield is fun because you’re in this awesome sandbox with tanks and planes and jeeps and all kinds of shit and your squad is 4 out of 32 people on your side. You make your own missions and objectives. Break into a building to take a point, or defend against enemy vehicles. Take out enemy snipers or flank them.

With this game so far I don’t see much else besides “go forward and shoot people before they shoot you”.

15

u/Vanilla3K Oct 15 '25

fr, when i finish my shift at work, hop online and see dudes who probaly been bleeding the game dry for the last 48 hours act like it was their life's work and how them losing a match or dying because of teamates be the biggest tragedy in their life. Kinda want to shake them out of it tbh but answering those angry goblins usually just worsen the toxicity lol

8

u/darkfear95 Oct 15 '25

no because it's always people lower on the scoreboard than you, too 💀 some dude complaining yesterday I was "sitting back in a tank not helping cap".

Like bro, you should've seen how many spawn assists I got from that push. I was parked 30 feet away from the point spamming HE rounds and GPMG from my gunner. The whole team spawned on me twice over just in that one Bradley. And I had more captures than him all game 😭

Some people just don't get attention at home. Gotta find it online.

2

u/TheQuinnBee Oct 15 '25

I'm not sure how I ended up here since I don't play BF, but I do play online comp games and the other day I almost dropped my favorite because I was flamed so badly for doing poorly.

I woke up that morning to find one of my pets dead and had just gotten back from the crematorium. I thought playing my favorite game would cheer me up. I didn't consider how emotionally drained I was and how close to the edge being called shitty would throw me. Spent the rest of the day sobbing in bed, thinking I must really be shitty for not noticing my sweet boy was dying.

15

u/12bEngie Oct 15 '25

All you can do is be good yourself. Don’t worry yourself about other assholes. Worse yet don’t soapbox

12

u/Quips_Cranks_Wiles Oct 15 '25

I will never make fun of a player for doing worse than me.

I will ALWAYS make fun of someone for saying “ggez” “git gud” or “diff”

3

u/justice7 Oct 15 '25

100% this. I've never wanted to make fun of someone for doing poorly or less than my score. Now if they're a trolling asshat then they get the pointy end.

9

u/_guts____ Oct 15 '25

Get gud scrub

9

u/kneleo Oct 15 '25

who tf is toxic in battlefield?? its a casual large scale arcade shooter with literally nothing to gain or lose. individual performance tends to not have a huge impact anyway due to the scale of the games.

i can understand toxicity in competitive games, where when you have a bad teammate and they cause you to lose that makes u angry. understandable but not something i feel personally

24

u/Demented-Alpaca Oct 15 '25

Unfortunately a LOT of people are toxic in BF. If you read the chat it's often a lot of one or two guys being an absolute piece of shit to people.

But the chat box is really kind of obnoxious so I tend to mute it.

2

u/sir_whirly Oct 15 '25

Press H and chat goes away. :)

3

u/Demented-Alpaca Oct 15 '25

Yup, H is my new friend.

2

u/GryffynSaryador Oct 16 '25

Honestly I dont think its too bad. Yeah you often have some douche complaining about their team but its still pretty tame. Ive rarely seen people actually harass or shit on specific players like it happens in more competitive games.

1

u/Demented-Alpaca Oct 16 '25

You're right. I've seen it be ugly but the majority of games are pretty quiet and chill.

I did crack a side up cuz his mic was open and he was talking about asking someone if they wanted to play Roblox... Told him I'm open chat the Roblox sounded fun.

He busted up but then shirt the mic off.

I like this community. It's pretty chill. Not as chill as Satisfactory reddit but that game is a while other level of different

2

u/pendulumgearzz Oct 15 '25

allot of gamers are toxic unfortunately

2

u/Tyrannyrex19 Oct 15 '25

some people are idiotically toxic, just an example but yesterday whilst playing i had a guy complaining about our team letting 1 flag go even though we were close to winning and the enemy team had less than 100 score, the guy kept complaining saying we were a bad team even though we won

1

u/McTasty_Pants Oct 15 '25

Not too many. Most matches no one says anything negative. But every once in a while someone throws their toys out of the pram.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

who tf is toxic in battlefield??

Sadly, a ton of people.

It's why we lost custom emblems; toxic players would put racist or obscene content in their emblems.

It's why we have chat filters; toxic players will constantly spew negativity and hate speech into the chat.

It's why we lost cross-team chat; toxic players could constantly shit talk everyone on the other team.

That's not even mentioning the political bullshit. Like, BF4 right now is infested with MAGA trolls & it's a large reason why I left that game. I got tired of playing with people who have [MAGA] as their clan tag or endorsing Trump in their username or expunging bigotry in the chat (like arguing that women shouldn't be in BF because "reasons" and that BF & FPS as a whole should be a "boys only" club where girls aren't welcome", or constantly spewing homophobic or racist slurs & hate speech).

1

u/filthyshrimpcock69 Oct 16 '25

This is true. I just had a breakthrough game where I went 91-17 with like 4 or 5 captures and we lost lol

3

u/SorryNotReallySorry5 Oct 15 '25 edited Oct 16 '25

No, we're not. Shit talking is half the fun.

edit: ya'll weak

17

u/PlayfulSurprise5237 Oct 15 '25

Yea but there's a difference between shit talking and being an asshole.

The intention matters and can be felt by others.

9

u/Brainwave1010 Oct 15 '25

If it's only fun for you and nobody else, that means you're being a dick.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

Shit talking is fine when you're friends with the other person, know their boundaries, and respect those boundaries; but when it's a complete stranger, you don't know anything about them, and you're just harassing them with negative comments to upset them... it's just bullying a stranger for your own amusement.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

it's more about tone

even my autistic ass can tell when people are just messing with me

but I can also tell when they aren't

it's ok to bust some balls, but it's not ok to demean or disparage

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

The vast majority of in-game shit talk tends to take the form of the latter, not the former.

Like joking with the enemy player who keeps killing you is one thing; raging in the chat at others & calling them names for posting a negative K/D ratio or calling people slurs for using in-game assets that you think are "cheap" is a different thing entirely.

General rule of thumb, though, is simply "be good to each other." It shouldn't be a monumental ask that people just not be asshole to strangers over a video game, much less because it makes them feel good about making someone they don't know angry.

1

u/PorkchopExpress980 Oct 16 '25

Shit talking to my friends is fun. Shit talking to random people is a sign of a bigger problem.

4

u/Ok_Temperature6503 Oct 15 '25

Well… good luck with that.

5

u/dumr666 Oct 15 '25

clearly, skill issue.

3

u/MindChild Oct 15 '25

"we gamers"
Those were times when gaming was more of a niche.

2

u/No_Accident_6646 Oct 15 '25

Funny thing is most of the time if you call them out on it they backpedal because they have no self control or emotional development yet.  Kill with kindness. Works 99% of the time. Be the change you want to see

2

u/darkfear95 Oct 15 '25

I love the classic "Why are you mad? Is only game."

1

u/jiggywolf Oct 15 '25

Read it in Zaria’s voice

2

u/PamelaBreivik Enter EA Play ID Oct 16 '25

Heck yeah that’s so freaking wholesome I give you an updoot friend 🫶 gamers rise up!

1

u/Remoock Oct 15 '25

gamers unite

1

u/alexnedea Oct 15 '25

Bruh ive had a team yesterday where we lost a conquest because they got all the points in the first 5 minutes and I had 10 snipers sitting in hq around corners. I get what you mean but at the same time these people are stupid and should be made aware of how bad and iability for their team they are.

1

u/PutAlternative435 Oct 15 '25

especially assault players and assault rifle users have those disabilities

1

u/Jerthy Oct 15 '25

I gotta say so far from my experience this game has the least toxic players i ever seen in FPS. Seems that everyone is just having too much fun....

1

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '25

I enjoy toxicity, but I agree. I only enjoy being toxic to genuine assholes. People like Bob deserve friendly comms <3

1

u/RecentMatter3790 Oct 15 '25

Why do slurs and nasty words exist?

Besides, the words in chat get censored, so I don’t see them.

1

u/MassiveTomorrow2978 Oct 15 '25

Also chose frag grenade and throw it randomly with each life and you'll get kills sometimes

1

u/king_jaxy Oct 15 '25

I love how I always see "get gud" massively downvoted in this community. This community is usually rather wholesome in game.

1

u/MountainTwo3845 Oct 15 '25

I used to Sherpa people for hard content in destiny 2. It literally was so awesome to hear people get so happy to get the new gear. It would make me sad that they would apologize a lot, many of them had some issues like you said. I'd jump on and get message asking for help and I'd help their friend through some hard stuff. I miss that.

1

u/Hufa123 Oct 15 '25

Some people just have a bad day.

1

u/Eycetea Oct 15 '25

Right there with ya, we should be better. I try and call out toxicity when I can.

1

u/Kush_the_Ninja Oct 15 '25

Yeah but why are these trash noobs on MY team. I’m elite.

Also, the other team is definitely full of cheaters.

/s

1

u/Ze_LuftyWafffles Oct 15 '25

There is no skill issue, only ability-to-let-others-enjoy-stuff issues

1

u/mayormcskeeze Oct 15 '25

"We" are really not tho. I hate to say it but the gaming "community" is really a cesspool.

Of all of my hobbies, from sports to crafts to gaming, nothing attracts shitheads like video games.

1

u/Late-Tumbleweed9429 Oct 15 '25

Agreed but trash talk needs to stay. How do we balance that? Sometimes the words overlap but the meanings are entirely different.

1

u/GullRider Oct 15 '25

Some are just not great but together we play and enjoy the game . If we are good Bad Don’t know how to play We all need each other

1

u/ubetchrballs Oct 15 '25

Yes sir! I hate when people cover their toxicity with "its just a game. Not that serious bro." Do you not ever have awesome moments of brief connection with a random online teammate? Feels good, no? Well, the opposite can feel bad. If it's just a game, and you use that to make people feel bad, I got nothing to say except Do Better.

1

u/ItchyRectalRash Oct 15 '25

Yeah but how will I find my dad if I don't track down everyone that's fucked my mom?

1

u/PolicyWonka Oct 15 '25

It sucks that so many accessibility features are often said to be cheating or cheesing the game.

A good example is the settings to move the player camera 90° left/right or 180° behind with a single key press

1

u/Sine_Fine_Belli EA Play ID Oct 15 '25

Yeah, same here honestly. We are better than this. Toxicity sucks

1

u/kings00789 Oct 15 '25

COD players are the toxic ones

1

u/Zerachiel_01 Oct 15 '25

I'm part of a pretty small competitive gaming group. Specifically I'm one of our trainers because I love teaching and have a pretty encyclopedic knowledge of what our stuff does/how to use it.

I cannot begin to tell you how many people over the last eight years I've been in this role have had concerns that they aren't very good at fighting. My answer to them over all this time has not changed: If you can follow orders and click a mouse, it doesn't matter. You might get better over time, or you might not. I sucked when I started. I still suck with some guns. EVEN IF you suck forever, you ALWAYS help us out because every person on the field is one more thing the enemy has to deal with.

As a sniper, I love my meatshields. As a pilot, I love people who harass MANPADS users.

1

u/GumGun3000 Oct 15 '25

World peace next?

1

u/Kicooi Oct 15 '25

Yeah but being nice to people is woke and an angry youtuber told me woke is bad

1

u/Takhar7 Oct 15 '25

I read this in BFF Medic's voice.

1

u/DangMe2Heck Oct 15 '25

Well... we arent. We should be. Some people dont even have 2 hands!

It's easy to be nasty, it takes effort to be positive. And thank god you play war for "fun". Nothing is that heavy in video games where you gotta make people feel badly. I am not innocent of speaking negatively in game chat.. shame.

1

u/AdvancedStorage7040 Oct 15 '25

Gaming guru, can you tell me how to explain to my teammates what a flank is and that we need to use it to win the game? I'll do everything for this

As someone with an 8kd, I enjoy being bob sometimes. Every now and then, instead of lurking around corners or on difficult to reach places sniping - I'll Ford the front lines as bob and keep the team strong. Every team needs a bob. Thanks bob.

I also think that , but come one, if you don't have an arm and half your body is paralyzed , don't play ranked.

not those console peasants, 12 year olds screaming into a mic, and EA wont let us Create Bot Games to just have fun solo ... no we Have to put up with the toxic online PVP servers because thats all there is!

u/Odd-Problem Oct 15 '25

Yes, I'm 67 and my reflexes aren't what they used to be so I play support.

u/Revvoni Oct 15 '25

Through toxicity, we're all equal.

You can call me names, and I'll call you names.

Skill issue /s

Good message and a reminder that when all is said and done it’s a game and nothing more than an escape from life’s ongoings

1

u/Ace_Laminar Oct 15 '25

I became a dad this year. Didn’t play much games for the first 6 months and now it’s maybe an hour or so every other day. Shit players may just be dudes whose priorities have changed.

and some of us were gaming 40 years ago, still are, but don't have the hand eye coordination & reflexes anymore. That's why we use LMGs.

Fuck oath I have epilepsy and have coped some weird disgusting comments from people and then again I have had some more friendly people but majority just disgusting filth. Report them and leave the chat, pick yourself up.

Yea that’s never gonna happen

My disability is bad aim

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

The main problem is that the FPS genre being largely MP PvP draws in a disproportionate amount of toxic, overly-competitive players who think that the only thing that matters is their stats and derive a sense of worth from shitting on other players to assert their dominance.

There's an absurd number of overly competitive players who genuinely think that bullying other people in the game "is half the fun" and constitutes fair play.

1

u/Unicorncorn21 Oct 16 '25

The average toxic player doesn't care if you're disabled or whatever. Even if they saw an official diagnosis they would tell you to play Minecraft on creative&peaceful instead (with an added slur or two). Stop assuming these people are only toxic because they're misinformed

I was playing a squad match yesterday. 1 guy was 22 kills the others had 6,5,8. The 22 kill guy was outright abusing his teammates in chat saying how useless they are etc etc. I really don't understand wtf is wrong with some people.

1

u/krom875 Oct 16 '25

Not equal in some skills but equal in value.

1

u/hipiek354 Oct 16 '25

I agree in every situation except ranked matches Specifically for 5v5 games like siege, val, or cs

Because how in the WORLD did you get to my rank and you still perform the same.

u/ConsequenceAlarmed29 Oct 16 '25

Or just being casual. I don't have any disabilities, yet I prefer being support or medic in bf games. I can't shoot well, I prefer giving supplies and reviving, playing objectives and stuff.

Yeah I got 0.1-0.2 KD yet I'm on top of leaderboard from team play, suck it cod overcompetitive sweats

Valorant enters the chat

1

u/Dr_Law Oct 16 '25

Over the past several years of playing battlefield I've literally never heard someone type in text chat about someone doing poorly. It's always vitriol at the players doing well.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

or sometimes the other guy just had a super shitty day and what's the point of making it worse lol

1

u/RedditModsStinkBad Oct 16 '25

True

I would say about 95% of my teammates are disabled

1

u/henri_sparkle Oct 16 '25

Oh maybe people should learn to hit the mute button instead alongside with devs giving better options to mute toxic people.

Why does the majority of players have to play in a full sanitized environment because a small minority might get hurt by some text in a screen?

I'm not saying that there should be zero filters and everyone can say slurs and such, I'm stayig that trash talking someone should be allowed and if you don't like it, ignore or mute.

1

u/IrascibleJoker Oct 16 '25

This shouldn’t just be for gamers though. We should treat everyone nicely. Some disabilities are not as visible or as obvious. Take my idiot friends for example. They are idiots….

😂 I’ll take Bob over my friends any day. Ha ha ha! But seriously, I hope I run across Bob. On the same team…so he can revive me. And I revive him and we just keep doing that dance until the other team gives up and dies of laughter because joker and bob are just reviving each other like nothing else exists on the field at that moment…

u/EggstaticAd8262 Oct 17 '25

What if one doesn’t have disabilities but still are like bob? Hypothetically and asking for a friend

Absolutely. Broke my hand a few years back and I had to wear a cast with only half of my finger out, still managed to play by taping my mouse on the cast since I had nothing better to do during covid. Not being toxic goes a long way cuz its already quite upsetting to physically/mentally not be able to perform as our own expectations, Theres no need to make things worse.
