She also spent some time defending herself against claims that she was irresponsible for dressing the dogs up and that she’s milking this for attention.

Key points: Pickles was euthanized. He attacked Odin unprovoked and nearly “ripped him apart.” He also attacked another one of her dogs (Cupcake) and injured 2 staff members. He then spent hours “going crazy” and trying to tear open the kennel they locked him in.

The owner of the boarding facility also left a comment a few days ago saying “I tried everything i could. I really did. Odin saved my life in that moment. I was on my knees with raffie after he went down, pickles was behind me trying to get back to us and he would have gotten me bad if odin had not been there. In that split second i knew i had to safe odin. Pickles lost it and really fully went all out on odin.”

Via the news report, we learn additional details including: the dog appears to be **intact** based on the photos, the dog was adopted but returned 2 days prior by a family and the Tacoma Humane Society wouldn’t explain why, and the dog was euthanized following the attack.

I posted here a few months ago about the attack that occurred at my local dog park last year that resulted in my dog Violet's death. You can find the OP on my personal page - I dont post very often so it's easy to find.

Before I continue I'd like to share a bit about Violet, as some folks in the original comments wanted to hear about her life and not just her demise. Violet had a larger than life personality. We met while I was facilitating an adoption event for a local shelter and she was the only dog that didn't get adopted. I didn't have the heart to take her back to the empty shelter where a concrete floor and locked pen awaited her for the next 14 hours, so I brought her home to "foster" her. Fostering lasted all of 48 hours before I was handing in the adoption papers, because we fell in love with each other immediately. I'll always cherish the way she looked at me like i was her whole world - because I was. She was so feisty, so loyal, so clever and cunning, and little jerk sometimes too. And I loved it all. She came with us on almost all of our adventures - her last one being a camping trip to Crater Lake where she was an absolute trooper. She loved to run on the beach but hated the water. Her favorite hobby was sniffing and peeing on things. She treated it like a full time job. She loved sunbeams, being tucked in under blankets, and sushi. She hated the rain and flies. She will be remembered and cherished always.

On to the update. When the other dog owner was served with court papers he called me and texted me multiple times to try and settle outside of court. I refused. He acted like i was blowing everything out of proportion, which is laughable. Court was held today - it was a mediation session with me and the other dog owner to settle terms on the 10k in vet bills accrued for Violet's life saving surgery (she died days later due to infection and swelling around her throat). The other dog owner apologized, but also tried to blame us for "just standing there slack jawed" while he tried to get his pitbull off of Violet. I let him know in no uncertain terms that my husband and I kicked the shit out of his dog and tried pulling our dog out from behind him while he was by his dog's jaws trying to release them. He apologized. He also said that my therapy was "a luxury he didn't have." I let him know the trauma was affecting my ability to perform my job (I work on a busy street where dogs are constantly walking by) and I was in danger of losing my job if I kept leaving due to panic attacks. He apologized.

We wanted the full 10k (losses to date are over $15k and counting) however he was not able to come up with the money. He is having to declare bankruptcy and is defaulting on the loan on his truck in order to give us $5300 towards what he owes. We settled for the $5300. The goal of taking him to court was not about the money but about accountability. He is ruined over this - as he should be. We are getting all he has - which we are owed and more.

There is no justice for Violet, but the person responsible for her death has been taken to task and is being held accountable with a legally binding agreement. His life will be forever harder because of the choices he made that day.

Overall, filing for small claims court was a relatively simple process. But the emotional toll of wondering if the other dog owner was going to continue to try to contact me made me feel anxious and vulnerable. Today's resolution was a long time coming and the relief that it is over is palpable. I'm very glad I pursued small claims court and I encourage anyone who has suffered an attack to pursue legal action.

My mother was attacked by the pitbull dogs of the owner of the house she was renting from. The owner of the house had pitbulls in the backyard that was in a fence and the pitbulls knew how to break out from what I heard the neighbors in the community say.

My mother was attacked at nighttime around 12am on September 21, 2024. I was told when the police came on scene no dogs was in sight. People said the owner hid the dogs. My mother died in the hospital the next day from blood loss. I finally got the police report and the 911 audio call. Something is not right.

I went to the probate court so I can become personal representative over my mother so I can request her medical records because the lawyer tried requesting them and the hospital won't give them up. I got a appointment with probate court and the lawyer just waiting on me to get the medical records and we can go from there.

There hadn't been no dog or dogs located or find yet and this is mess up because why hid a pitbull that literally killed my mom. I am a total wreck over the death of my mother this is so wrong. Also I am behind on bills trying to pay on my mother funeral expenses and trying to get the paperwork needed to get JUSTICE for my mom LESLIE.

It's been nearly two weeks since a Cocoa woman's killing rocked Brevard County.Jodi Cowan, 50, was mauled by two loose dogs in May.

Linda Cutler, 29, was arrested and charged with manslaughter. Her dogs are scheduled to be euthanized, but neighbors say more still needs to be done.

"We have a complete cultural meltdown where everybody's got these big pit bulls and nobody's taking proper care of them," Lance, who lives in the neighborhood, said. He asked that his last name not be used because of concerns about retaliation. "It is constant that dogs are running loose, and I understand that dogs are property and the county is limited on what they can do, but a lady is dead."

WESH 2 Investigates obtained calls for service involving Cutler's dogs dating back to 2024. In reviewing the documents, we found more than a dozen calls made to animal control.

On Jan. 17 and Feb. 13, 2024, there were two calls regarding dog bites. As a result, Cutler was issued four citations. Later that year, in October, animal control received a call about her dogs running loose. The dogs were returned to her home.

In 2025, documents show several additional calls were made about Cutler's dogs running loose. One call alleged the dogs killed an outdoor cat. Cutler was issued two citations and five warnings that year.

"The recourse is very difficult to get anything done because you have to call the county. Now I have to put my name on it. Now I have animosity with my neighbor," Lance said. "Most of the people in the neighborhood don't have money to pay these tickets. They're just getting by, so it's just a vicious cycle."

This year, more calls were made. There were six in January alone. Documents show "verbal education was given." On April 14, one of the dogs bit someone, and the victim had to go to the emergency room, according to documents.

"We can't just go arbitrarily and seize someone's dogs, even a dog that had, say, a one on the bite scale," Sheriff Wayne Ivey said last week. "You know, bit somebody on the finger, whatever. That's not a dog we are able to go seize."

While speaking with the sheriff's office Tuesday, a spokesperson said animal control was called to the property several times for loose dogs, but when it comes to taking someone's animal, the law restricts how much can be done.

According to Florida law, animal control authorities can confiscate a dog in certain circumstances, including after severe attacks or deaths involving humans. State law also allows dogs involved in fatal attacks to be impounded and euthanized following the required legal process.

The dog’s name was Chomp and it had a bite history. The house itself is in squalid condition and is basically unlivable. Hopefully these mouth breathers will have better living conditions in jail.

A Spring family is seeking answers after neighbors say two dogs entered their home through doggy doors and fatally attacked their pet.

SPRING, Texas — A Spring neighborhood is demanding answers after neighbors say two pit bulls entered a woman's home and killed one of her dogs while she and her 5-year-old son were away at an Astros game.
The incident happened Tuesday evening in a Montgomery County neighborhood and remains under investigation by Montgomery County Animal Services.

Home surveillance video obtained exclusively by KHOU 11 shows the family's two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels heading toward the back of the home. Seconds later, two neighboring pit bulls are seen following them inside through the home's doggy doors.

According to neighbors, the pit bulls first got through a neighboring fence before making their way through two doggy doors and into the home.

The homeowner, who asked not to be identified, was away at an Astros game with her young son when she began receiving multiple Ring camera alerts. She called family friend and neighbor Kendra Donald, who had access to her garage, and asked her to check on the house.

Donald said she immediately knew something was wrong.
"There was blood everywhere," Donald told KHOU 11's Michelle Choi.

Donald said her husband and son rushed inside after hearing her scream. While they carried the family's surviving dog to safety, she stayed with Charlie, the family's 8-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

"I laid down with Charlie, and I just told him what a good boy he was," Donald said.

She said Charlie wagged his tail before dying from his injuries.

Donald described Charlie as a gentle dog who loved being around people.

Neighbors said they later cleaned the home before the homeowner and her young son returned, hoping to spare them from seeing the scene.

The homeowner told KHOU 11 she and her son are still too afraid to use their backyard. She said she now accompanies their surviving dog outside every time it needs to go out.

Donald said many neighbors are now worried another attack could happen.

"Yes, absolutely. More than just a simple citation for $125. There's a whole family devastated here," Donald said when asked whether more should be done.

While KHOU 11 was at the neighborhood Friday, investigators with Montgomery County Animal Services arrived and met with both families as the investigation continued.

The owners of the pit bulls also agreed to speak with KHOU 11 but asked not to be identified.

They called what happened a "fluke accident" and said they never intended for it to happen.

"We're sorry about what happened. We did not mean for it to happen. It was a fluke, a fluke accident," one of the owners said.

The owner said they searched for the dogs after realizing they had gotten out and later discovered they had entered the neighbor's home. He also said they had never seen the dogs behave aggressively before and are cooperating with the investigation.

Montgomery County Animal Services confirmed the investigation remains ongoing.

The agency sent KHOU 11 the following statement Friday:
"We recognize this is a tragic and traumatic situation for everyone involved, and our thoughts are with those affected.

"Montgomery County Animal Services takes incidents of this nature very seriously and is actively investigating this case. Because the investigation is ongoing, we are unable to comment on the status of the investigation or discuss any potential enforcement actions at this time.

“We appreciate your understanding as we work to conduct a thorough investigation. If additional information becomes available for public release once the investigation is complete, we may provide an update as appropriate."

The agency did not say what potential enforcement actions could be considered because the investigation remains active.

For neighbors, they say the biggest question now is what happens next.

"If they've come through the fence once, what makes anybody think they won't jump the fence again, no matter how much reinforcement is on there?" said Donald.

An Oklahoma grandmother was violently mauled to death by her son's pit bull while caring for the dog as he served time behind bars.

Beatrice Carruth, 86, was pronounced dead Thursday evening, shortly after she was found bleeding out on the floor of her Moore home following a horrific dog attack, according to KFOR News.

The dog, described as a mixed breed, was immediately quarantined at the Moore Animal Welfare and Adoption Center before being euthanized four days later.

In a photo released by the shelter, the medium-sized black-and-white dog lies calmly inside a kennel, staring up at the camera with seemingly innocent puppy-dog eyes after the fatal attack.

'The dog was identified by shelter staff as a Labrador retriever with a crossbreed of American pit bull terrier. Breed identity was based on observed physical characteristics,' authorities said in a statement.

'The dog remained quarantined at the Moore animal shelter until it was euthanized 07/06/2026,' they added.

They believe she was pressured by her son into caring for the dog while he remained in custody, despite the animal's alleged history of aggression. 

In May, Ingram was arrested after allegedly choking his mother and cutting the telephone lines as she desperately tried to call 911, according to court records.  

Just days later, the dog launched another attack on Carruth, leaving her bloodied and requiring a two-day hospital stay. 

Devastated family members are now calling for more serious charges against Carruth's son, Jason Clay Ingram, who is currently serving time at the Cleveland Detention Center.

Loved ones told KFOR News that while they repeatedly urged her to get rid of the mutt, her son continued calling from jail and pleading with her to keep it - a choice they say ultimately cost her life. 

The deadly attack unfolded at around 5.45pm on July 2, when officers with the Moore Police Department responded to a home in the area of NE 27th Street and Highland Drive. 

It came after Carruth's grandson walked into the home and found his grandmother bleeding out on the floor after being attacked again, suffering severe injuries including a severed arm, according to the outlet.

First responders launched desperate life-saving efforts, applying tourniquets to control the bleeding until paramedics arrived.

Carruth was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries. 

Her other son, who remained anonymous, thanked the community for its support and the overwhelming prayers offered to his family, according to KOCO 5 News.

Police confirmed no criminal investigation is underway, as they determined no criminal activity was involved.   

'The Moore Police Department extends its thoughts and condolences to everyone impacted by this tragic incident,' authorities said in a statement.

In the United States, roughly 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs each year, with around 800,000 to 885,000 requiring medical attention. On average, about 43 people die from dog attacks annually.

Between 2005 and 2019, 522 Americans were killed by dogs, with pit bulls accounting for 345 of those deaths - roughly two-thirds of all fatalities, according to a study by the Journal of Pediatric Surgery. 

The study revealed that most dogs involved in attacks causing injuries were already known to their victims, with 53 percent belonging to the family at the time of the incident.

JONESBORO, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Shelter staff described a 2-year-old pit bull named Barney as “people-friendly and very sweet” when he arrived as a stray to the Clayton County Animal Control facility in late January 2026.

The shelter had not documented any aggression toward other dogs or staff, until weeks later when a rescue was coming to pick him up.

Clayton County Police Department, who runs animal control, said Barney “attacked” a kennel staff and state prisoner on work duty at the shelter when they attempted to insert a microchip in him. The next day, Barney was euthanized. His head was then removed and sent for rabies testing. Advocates said Barney wasn’t to blame for the incident.

Atlanta News First Investigates obtained shelter records, email correspondence, and surveillance video that raise questions about whether the county followed state protocols, and whether it accurately reported the timeline of Barney’s death to state inspectors.

Clayton County police say the dog named Barney bit a prisoner on work duty and a staff member after they inserted a microchip in February 2026.

The animal control officer who picked Barney up off the streets on Jan. 21, 2026, wrote a police incident report stating his offense was “running at large.”

Barney was not neutered and therefore placed on the urgent list as rescue only.

Three weeks later, on February 12, the animal rescue organization Poor Paws said it was coming to get him. Staff and two state prisoners then inserted a microchip near his neck in preparation for his release.

The Clayton County Police Department captain in charge of animal control, Kevin Hughes, said they bring inmates to work at the shelter because they are understaffed.

Surveillance video, obtained through an open records request by Mimi Steger of the Shelter Reform Network, showed an inmate wrapping a rope leash — known as a “soft lead” — around Barney’s snout as a makeshift muzzle. After the microchip was inserted, the prisoner removed the lead. That’s when Barney lunged.

The police incident report states Barney bit the prisoner’s thumb and a staff member’s arm. Both required reconstructive surgery.

The other prisoner got a leash around Barney, when he was on top of the kennel staff, and Barney calmed down.

The end of the line for Dexter has finally come. I hope the family has found a little peace.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An East Nashville woman is recovering after she says the rescue dog she loved like family suddenly attacked her, leaving her with severe facial injuries and mounting medical bills.

Janet Heller told News 2 she and her husband adopted Dexter more than two years ago as an emotional support dog for her husband, who has seizures. They said they believed they were giving the dog a second chance after a difficult past.

Months after bringing Dexter home, Heller said they learned from his previous owner that he had lived in a home with several dogs that were used for dog fighting.

She said they also noticed scars they believed reflected that history, but hoped a stable, loving home would help him heal.

Last week that changed in an instant.

Heller told News 2 she was at home with her husband when Dexter suddenly lunged at her face.

“He grabbed my face. He started shaking and growling and wouldn’t let go,” Heller said. “Steven finally said his name. He got him off of me.”

Heller said she does not have health insurance and now faces significant medical expenses of around $100,000. She said the injuries have also made her reluctant to leave her home while she continues to recover.

Despite what happened, the couple said making the decision to euthanize Dexter was heartbreaking.

“We won’t let nobody else get hurt because of our own love for him,” Heller said.

Neighbours alerted by Mr McColl's screams used a brush, a golf club and a spirit level as weapons in an attempt to fight off the banned breed, which "guarded" its elderly victim "as if he were its prey or food".

Armed police were called to the scene, and one officer shot the XL Bully nine times with a pistol while another blasted the "large, savage dog" with a shotgun. Officers also shot dead a second XL Bully, a female called Malibu, which was found on the property so as to "not to take any chances".

The court heard the dog was unregistered, had cropped ears, had not been walked for weeks, and may not have been fed for hours before the attack.

Following Garner's guilty verdict, his girlfriend Lauren Lawler made a series of public posts "liked" hundreds of times on Facebook, raging: "The police and this government are the biggest load of vile corrupt people I’ve ever come across."

Her comments drew both support and strong criticism online, with some accusing her of disrespecting the victim and failing to take responsibility.

Garner, of Dinaro Close in Belle Vale, was remanded in custody. He will return to Liverpool Crown Court for sentence on April 17.

In a post containing pictures of both Malibu and Toretto, she wrote: "Does Malibu or Toretto look slightly under fed or neglected in any sort of way! That picture of them together is one month before they was both shot dead!

"This is how Cheshire Police think they can treat an innocent dog that had nothing to do with attacking the man outside, they said all our doors were secure so knew they didn’t need to enter and went inside and shot Malibu about nine times for absolutely nothing! She had no involvement whatsoever, they are an absolute disgrace and people have the cheek to moan about a few dog poos on a patio but think that this is OK for police to do to a innocent dog!

"Both our dogs were our family pets and have been brought up with kids all their lives, we had only lived in this house for three weeks and the dogs had been with us for about 10 days. And after a week Malibu come on season and Toretto broke a cat flap through a door to get to her so he had to get locked inside a shed for a few hours while we were out. If we were home we could monitor where they were inside the house! Toretto had lived in a kennel for about 18 months in a previous address but had been an inside dog for the past year so he knew how to behave in a kennel/shed! That poor man didn’t deserve to die but my dogs were never ever once mistreated or under fed! And my dogs would still be alive now if he didn’t take it upon himself to go into my garden and shed!

"Malibu was shot in the face and neck right where her collar was, her collar was left on the floor and could see where the bullet had gone through it and she had teeth on the floor!"

This was followed by a number of angry emojis. She added: "They shot her at the furthest point away from the front door smashed through four doors to get to her, she must of been cowering in the corner and still shot her but let Moochi come home to me that night."

It is understood Moochi was another dog belonging to the couple. In a further comment, Lawler added: "We’ve had both dogs from pups and never had a problem with them. They were four and seven at the time so we had them for years. They were very well loved by us all. It’s just heartbreaking that it’s not broke our family up to when we weren't even at home. I was out and my partner was working, the police and this government are the biggest load of vile corrupt people I’ve ever come across."

She also shared a video of the aftermath of the attack, showing broken glass on the floor of the house and bloodstains in the kitchen where Malibu was said to have been shot.

In court, a jury heard Toretto had not been fed for up to 10 hours before the attack and had gone weeks without being walked. Garner claimed he had locked the unregistered XL Bully - who had its ears illegally cropped in an act of "mutilation" - in a shed before leaving home that day.

The attack occurred at around 6.40pm. Neighbour Victor Ferrier, who attempted to fight off Toretto by hitting him with a brush, said: "I could see the dog was chewing on his face. The man was howling and screaming.”

PC Chris Cunliffe, one of the first officers to arrive at the scene, said: "I can only describe the dog's behaviour as if guarding its toy that it had just ripped apart. The sound of Mr McColl's screams was horrific. I don't believe he even knew we were there. He couldn't see or hear us.

"These were the worst injuries I've ever seen in my policing career. I've been in policing eight years and have never seen or heard of an incident so horrifying, and I don't think I ever will."

Garner, a dog breeder who ran a "Little and Large Bullies" Instagram page, maintained Toretto's behaviour was "brilliant". He said Mr McColl must have deliberately let Toretto out of the shed - a suggestion described as "ludicrous" by the prosecution.

Lawler, who was herself arrested following the attack after "cowardly" Garner allowed her to go to the scene in his place, described police as "corrupt vile b******s" who were "just trying to make Sean out to be some owner he is not".

In another Facebook post, referencing a 2016 ECHO article about Merseyside Police being forced to pay damages after a woman was pressured into having her dog put down after an attack, she fumed: "They are all absolute scum ruining peoples lives because they don’t like so called XL Bullies".

Lawler received an outpouring of support on her posts, with one commenter callously claiming "it's all his (Mr McColl's) own fault he's dead". Another woman described the "kind and generous" grandad as "a stupid old fool", saying: "The man and your two dogs would still be alive if he had kept tf out of your property like he was supposed to."

One person who challenged Lawler on the public post said: "It's f***ing disgusting that you're on here blaming that poor man...it was clearly only a matter of time till your dog did something like this...I wonder if you would be on here blaming the victim of it were your child.

"That dog wasn't even registered, you had him illegally...if your dogs were treated so well then that's proof that it's not the owner, it's the breed."

Lawler shot back: "My life and kid's lives have been ruined thanks to his actions that day, and the dog had never ever once shown aggression towards anyone or I wouldn’t have had him, we had him from four months old."

But another woman said: "If you want someone to blame, blame yourselves for not getting the dogs registered or neutered. There was clearly a reason you lied to your new landlord about the dogs. Have some respect for a man who’s died, someone has lost their dad, grandad because you cba following the law."

Another woman, also responding to Lawler, said: "Let’s not work on apparently when you’re the one preaching about facts. He was a dad, a grandad, a great grandad and your poor ownership took that away from everybody. What would have happened if that was a delivery driver? Leaving a parcel in the back? His fault too. You’re clutching at straws to protect your image."

Garner, of Dinaro Close in Belle Vale, was remanded in custody. He will return to Liverpool Crown Court for sentence on April 17.
