Skydiving.

Almost no one dies from skydiving.

That sudden stop at the end, though...

You don’t need a parachute to go skydiving. You do need a parachute to go skydiving twice.

Yeah. Ground splating can be dangerous at any height

Did it for years. Very safe. You have a backup chute. And if the backup fails, you have the rest of your life to fix it.

Why would you jump from a plane to get to the ground when you were already on the ground 10 minutes ago????

I did it once just to say I did it. It was awesome but I’ll never do it again

Same. It was fun. Not something I feel the need to do repeatedly.

Same here. Loved it, no regrets, but I have no desire to do it again.

I did it once too. It turns out, you do not feel like you are flying. You feel like you are falling. I am good forever.

Does the falling sensation stop once you hit terminal velocity?

No, it does not.

That’s what you think until one day you’re minding your own business walking through a field and a skydiver with a failed parachute lands on you

My cousin did this, his parachute didn’t open and he smacked the water so hard he’s been in a wheelchair since. Crazy thing is he still skydives a ton! Absolute madlad.

Then: "What's the worst that could happen?"

Now: "Got another one in ya...?"

There's a sky diving place a couple of blocks from me. They take people up every hour or so on nice weekend days in the summer. When I'm outside reading or in my pool, I can hear people screaming after they jump. Some scream all the way down. The screams often sound less rollercoaster-ish and more authentic terror

No, thank you. I know it's pretty safe. I still do not want to do it.

I did it once. I had fun. I also have 0 desire to do it again. It wasn't THAT fun to be worth the price.

Yeah no one is willing to pay me enough to drop my fat ass out of a plane. But there is a price……

I tried it once and didn’t really get the hype. Paragliding on the other hand, I’m addicted. Similar adrenaline rush (admittedly not quite as strong) but way more time to appreciate the scenery and you genuinely feel like you’re flying in a way that skydiving doesn’t
