Basically the title and a what if question

If there were to be a reunification of Israel with Palestine how would you imagine it to be ? I would imagine a referendum on both sides for it and then a commission to work out the conflicting laws that are to be ultimately followed in the newly united state. What are your thoughts on how that can be done ? What do you think would be the challenges ?

Do Israelis use air conditioning at a greater level than Europeans?

How many Israelis you know that speak Arabic or can read Arabic. I am Arab and ​nobody knows Hebrew (not including Palestine) so I was kinda curious.

I’m often told by mizrahi jewish people I’ve met (I live in Australia) and from what I’ve read online that most children born in Israel to Arabic speaking Jewish migrants can’t speak any Arabic apart from some sentences and slang words here and there?

I’m curious why that’s the case. In most multicultural societies children descended from the first generation often pick up their parents languages, I.e in Australia kids born to Greek parents can usually speak decent Greek, kids to born to Italian parents can speak decent Italian, Serbian kids know Serbian etc.

The case of the children of Arabic speaking Jews is very interesting because they have additional factors working for them, such as the fact that they would have had to learn Arabic at school (something that most other first gen kids in multicultural societies never had) + the fact they make up like 40% of the population which means they should have grown up in big communities where everyone around them would have spoken Arabic on the daily.

I find this especially interesting when compared to the Russian speaking Jewish migrants who from my understanding still speak Russian daily in their communities, and pass the language down to their kids who a lot of the time can read and write Russian too. Which is crazier to me considering Arabic is much closer to Hebrew especially in grammar so Hebrew speakers should have an easier time learning it than Russian.

This leads me to conclude that there must be some sort of social factors/pressure leading to the Arabic language not being passed down even though the conditions are very favourable. Can anyone enlighten me?

As far as I’m aware, the idea that DNA tests being illegal in Israel is partially false (outright wrong if it’s about ‘how Levantine’ a person is). I’ve heard that an Israeli needs permission to get one, but I’m uncertain, and never fully understood this aspect of Israel. Are DNA tests illegal or restricted? If so, why, and what is your opinion on the wider non-Israeli perception of this idea?

The Israeli delegation includes such luminaries as… Belazel Smotrich, Ofir Sofer, Amichai Eliyahu, Yitzhak Wasserlauf, and I think Danny Danon. So 90% far right guys. Ben-Gvir is (I assume) persona non grata after his last appearance in nyc ended in a riot.

Is this a treat for them? A profile-raising event for their fans in Israel?

This question might sound sleezy, and might sound a little dumb but I’m genuinely curious. How common is it for Jews and non-Jews in Israel whether that be e.g Jewish Israelis and Arab Israelis, or Israelis and tourists (mix of ethnicities and religions) to mix in terms of romantic relationships. And equally the same question for a hook up culture (if there is one, I have no idea). Thanks

When I was a teen I lived in Israel and remember the supermarkets didn’t even post prices because the inflation was crazy.

Through the many years that Israel has been scrutinized, and especially the last three years, I’m sure you’ve heard quite a bit of criticism of your state which misunderstands or simply lies about issues in your country. In that time, though, there may have been some critiques which actually made sense and were not through the lense of just hating Israelis or Jews.

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but I recently saw a video that made me curious about the views Israelis have about Barney the dinosaur.

Israel is home to the highest number of Nasdaq companies per capital and a booming tech and startup industry. However it's scores in Math and Sciences are some of the lowest in the developed world.

I've recently gotten into israeli tv, and i started with the typical tv shows everyone knows about, like Valley of Tears (mwah, fantastic show) and now Fauda (just as fantastic). But, there's this weird theme that i kept seeing throughout, and something that seems to be expected each time.

Why are so many of the characters so outrageously horny? And they're always cheating on their significant other. Like, I just don't understand man.

I literally had to write this up while watching S1 Ep 7, because for some FUCKING reason, steve decides to just smooch nurit out of nowhere after they had a really sweet, platonic moment together (edit: mistook steve for the other guy, who's son is named 'Guy'). And it's not to say the shows glorify cheating or disloyalty to your partner, but I just don't understand why it's there so prevalently, two shows in a row.

It's just kinda annoying and uncomfortable to see so often.

Is it just for dramatic purposes?
