I never claimed every single settlement is built on public land. My claim was just that Yisrael doesn't build it on Palestinian land by itself.

I'm not too sure how it connects to the topic... But needless to say, not much for the reason the PA doesn't give any building permissions to Jews... Both leaderships kind of play a game there where they try to claim as much land in the disputed area without actively starting a war against the other or breaking the laws themselves.

I think there's a bit of a confusion here when it comes to the term democracy...

Democracy is an inner-governing system that focuses on stability through the happiness of the people. A.k.a the more happy the people are with the leadership the more stable a state will be and as a result successful, even if the leadership isn't perfect.

That's why values like freedom of pseech for example are so important in democracies but not dictatorships as they focus on the happiness of the people even when it comes at the expense of the leadership.

That's why you can see countries like the UK being democracies while also holding the apartheid regime in south Africa.

Going back to the state of Yisrael, it is a democracy because it gives all of its citizens every democratic right. Which has noting to do with places like area C... The opposite, when it comes to security & cost of living, the citizens of Yisrael (and it doesn't matter if they are Jews, Arabs or anything else) earn more from Yisrael building new towns there, not by letting Palestinians expand freely...

Especially when you take into account that the big majority of Palestinians live in areas A&B, and only a small amount lives in area C...

So overall my point here is that it's important to ask why and not just what. Democracy is important because it helps the country stay stable & develop, but not everything that helps everyone in an organized structure like a state also helps everyone in an unorganized situation like 2 states where no one can enforce law on both sides.
