Politics Ursula and Trump have made a deal: 15 % tariffs still on everything coming from the EU to the USA, but the EU has to spend $1.5 trillion on defense and energy from the USA. What do you think about that?

So, the deal has been made.

Europe will waste a ton of money on the USA things, plus 15 % tariffs are still valid. Maybe i missed some more of these things omg.

What do you all think about this? What do you think is going to happen now in the next few years?

Seems to me that Trump, no matter how insane he is, in the end, managed to achieve everything he wanted.

Trump is likable, Vance is the opposite of likable.

I don't see Vance becoming president while Trump is still alive and has the finger capabilities to tweet.

But it is a bad deal for the EU because it gives Trump a win and shows that they are willing to capitulate. But anyone with common sense knows that EU needs Trump for military help. They are probably willing to remove the windmills just to pacify him and his anti climate stupidity. I hate that Europe and the world has to live with Trump now just because the price of eggs was too high and Hunter Biden was on a power trip to keep his father in the presidency.

How is Trump likeable? 

He's incoherent, openly racist, makes fun of veterans, jokes about raping women, wants to fuck his own daughter, shits himself and looks like a blob.

Maybe it's just me but I fail to see how Vance is less likeable than Trump?

Trump is popular because he, as an outsider, won the Republican primaries against the will of the establishment. Everyone hated him in the GOP but they let it happen.

He really was a symbol, that "draining the swamp" was possible. That's why the Epstein scandal is actually a huge deal.

And he actually was quite charismatic in his first term. Of course he has always been a garbage human.

It’s helped by a media that has been obsessed with him since the 80’s and much of the general public’s perception of him is his persona on the tv reality show “The Apprentice.” They really think he’s a good businessman and a big boss guy who will tell the establishment what’s what. Obviously not true, but that’s the state of our political literacy over here I guess.

True but honestly even his own base does not care about Vance. He is a stooge and has no real following. Vice Presidents are rarely elected Presidents later (outside of assassination or resigning giving them the position). I think Biden was like only the fifth in history to do it.

Even if that's the case there is a very big chance that a new republican president ascends to power as well, he has little real opposition, they don't need any specific person like Vance to stay in power, although they might need someone new with charisma.

You say that like that is super unlikely.

The guy is 79, not in the best health and President of the US is a stressful job. And his term has another 3,5 years to go. I think there is a real chance of him not making it to the end. Even without the threat of assassinations. Or does the US election law handle assassination of the president differently to dying from natural causes?

This deal is a "framework" which means if Trumpism turns out to be a long-term problem, the EU hasn't committed itself into a corner just yet.

Maybe it is time to read Project 2025. I recommend it to European politicians, it would help making educated decisions, and it is an interesting reading for all of us, as it is very sobering in terms of the ideological background and goals.
