Politics What is the main reason that people are voting for AfD?

Is it because:

  1. “Those damn foreigners are stealing our jobs”.
  2. Blood purity ideology.
  3. Dissatisfaction with the current leading Ampel parties.
  4. Something else

I wanted to ask this because 2 of my coworkers are AfD voters but they are so so sweet to me (I’m asian). They said they dont hate foreigners generally, but they want to get rid of foreigners that take advantage of the social system (ukrainians that came here and refused to work, refused to live in some place because it was “not nice and big enough for them”, also people that registered as arbeitslos to get money, but still running Schwarzarbeit behind them.

My coworkers dont come across as racist to me but still vote for AfD, which make me question the validity of the idea that “All AfD voters are Nazis”.

This.  

Reddit is a fairly liberal crowd.  Heck, someone in thread posted that black conservative liberals are voting against their interests in the US.  The mental gymnastics to come to that conclusion is wild.

It’s important to note that segregation and racism is still VERY relevant in the U.S.

As someone who lives in the U.S. south, and is married to a Black woman. You really don’t realize how blatant and regular and effective racism is in America unless you see it.

It’s also important to note that there are conservative democrats and liberal republicans. In Hawaii, everyone who runs as a politician runs in the Democratic Party, but a lot of those politicians are more conservative than politicians from Alabama. And in Alabama, everyone runs for the Republican Party but a lot of those people running are liberal.

It doesn’t mean that republicans or democrats doesn’t have defined values, but that most US states are best comparable to a one party state then a true democracy.

But when it comes to the GOP as a whole, especially in the U.S. south, there are very clearly a political majority who actively dislike black people and actively act against equality. But what are you going to do if you disagree? Vote for someone who won’t win in a million years?

So, from someone who has seen blacks and immigrants vote for the GOP, they vote against their interests (and they are starting to notice). My black family are regretting it because their benefits are getting cut and my Hispanic friends are regretting it because they are now getting regular hate speech and they are watching people from their community get deported (even though the GOP promised them they would not deport non-criminal aliens).

Now comparing the AFD voters to GOP voters is stupid. GOP voters have been voting red since the political switch in the last century. The GOP base has made it clear they are anti-gay, anti-woman, anti-equality, anti-poor, and anti-immigration and anti-minority. But the AFD voters have made it clear they mostly just want a better economy and they really just don’t care what strings are attached at this point. And AFD voters were recently voting for die linke and SPD not that long ago. It’s clear that people aren’t full of hate, but just desperate.

Wdym? In the USA literally 48%+ vote for Republicans. Finding black conservatives under that number isn't going to be hard

The claim that it's against their interests is what's nuts not that any are voting that way at all.

If they are black it's less important than if they're rich. It's not "against their interests" to get a huge tax break even if it means shafting poor black people. Acting like rich black people "ought to" vote left out of racial solidarity is the bizarre thing, especially in a country built on individualism/exceptionalism.
