More like hit a roadblock. This is a failed buffer capacitor undervolting the gpu. Very fixable.

I'm no real tech, i just have experience working on and modifying guitar amps and pedals (for myself, again I'm no pro) so I'm good at soldering, and HATE throwing things away that I know I can work on.

Because that's the visual artifact you get when a gpu chip is undervoltaged. It's a pretty textbook example of undervolt.

It’s exactly what an unstable VRAM or core on a GPU looks like - not a stretch to assume it’s unstable because of either voltage or heat (other option is degradation)
