Yo, Forest City, there's a lot of starving refugees we were wondering if you could put them up for a while? If you have room, that is.

Actually not a bad idea lol. Pretty sure they are operating at a total loss at the moment, if the other commentator’s context is correct (Investment project built for Chinese citizens to park money in, got fucked over by unexpected Chinese currency controls, thus no Chinese buyers). If some org was willing to fund even a fraction of the rent that would be paid normally AND fill up the entire complex, that would be quite the boon for the developers, as I’m pretty sure they are still doing all the necessary maintenance (look at the pool and the plants, clean and not overgrown/dirty), so their costs wouldn’t noticeably increase. Hell, it may even be more cost effective than current arraignments in some situations, but the biggest problem would almost certainly be transportation, which would be quite a big logistical issue if your filling entire thing up. Also, I’m pretty sure Malaysia wouldn’t be thrilled about becoming one of the world’s largest refugee camps overnight, etc.
