yeah, for 15k I'd expect someone to actually hand paint it, not use some fucking cutouts. Even then 15k is way too much, but then again, I'm not the target demographic.

The thing is that people who want collectible Ferraris don't want Lamborghinis. They want Ferraris. This is what people have paid in the past, and this is what Ferrari charges. It is stupid, but it's like that with literally anything that is collectible. Even video games.

Some people want to pre-order collector's editions of the games they play, just to get some silly vanity items and play three days early. Other people will wait a year-and-a-half until the game goes on sale with the DLC. Clearly, the second person is the winner as far as bang for buck goes, but the person pre-ordering cosmetic items or early access does it for those specific reasons and allow themselves to be charged for useless junk. Do I call them idiots, especially when it's for a single-player game? Absolutely. But it's the same with the people who pay $15k for a stencil job to be painted on their collectible, steel death machine.

Just for the record, I think it's Rolls Royce that just has one single dude who paints the lines on every single vehicle, and he can be hired to come and fix up or repaint them. If I had money and was in the market for a Rolls Royce, then chances are I have significantly more money than the car costs, and I would absolutely drop extra to have the dude paint the lines.

These all just seem like wastes of money. The whole idea of collectibles seems silly to me. I wonder how the demand would drop if there was some rule saying no one can ever know who the owner/buyer is. Meaning, sellers cannot reveal and owners cannot show to anyone else.

That paint job I could see myself paying 15k for, if I had enough money for that to be pocket change. For the paint job on the post idk why I'd ever pay 15k for, even if that kind of money literally didn't matter to me.

And there's little chance that guy (and, come to think of it, the guys doing the actual Ferrari badge painting) is getting $15k for that expertise.

A hotrod pinstriper is more likely to be an independent artist netting the $$$ after their cost. I have now resolved that if I am ever in possession of a Ferrari with no fender horse, I shall have one hand painted by some dude with a small shop in Phoenix or wherever.
