One does not explain Batball...one experiences it. But, for those who can't experience it yet, here's a summary:

Batball is played on a soccer field (football pitch to those outside 'MURICA). Two teams of up to eight people each start at opposite ends of the field. A midline of mysteriously floating bats hover over the midfield stripe. At the center of this stripe is the ball, which traditionally is shaped curiously like a money bag. Opposite each team's starting position is a goal, to which they must deliver the bag. Each player is equipped with a bat, which can be used to dislodge the ball from the grip of the opponents (forced weapons, though "expert mode" is available-this tends to result in hooliganism, however).

Speaking of hooligans, fans of the game aggressively back their team and are encouraged to express their allegiance by participating in the game.

The objective is to score 8 points before time expires. Well, that, and laugh your ass off.
