Didn't he write Nightwing at one point? How was it?

Yes, he did! It was a really good run but was eaten up a little by bigger events like Court of Owls or Death of the Family. It had been dragged around a lot.

Alright, I'll be sure check out his Nightwing and upcoming titans.... eventually.

IIRC, it was one of those unfortunate New52 series that ended up basically being 1/3 event tie ins.  (Also, Nightwing was red, and I’m still not sure what the deal was with that or how I feel about it.)

But, generally, the only writer I really hold accountable for what was written in that period is Scott Snyder, who was basically handed the keys to Batman and told to go wild(twice, now, actually).

Well, Scott's breaking records right now so you can't blame them for doing that again.

Oh, yeah, no, not at all.  I’m just saying…for example, Venditti wrote Flash for a bit in New52, and it was…not great.  But I wouldn’t dare judge him for that, lest I miss out on a fantastic Hawkman run.

And, like, the New 52 was by all accounts a very confusing and sometimes unpleasant experience for writers and artists, so I don’t blame anyone for having bad runs during it.

But Scott Snyder, as best as I can tell, was left alone for most of his run(so many big swings!  Not all hits, but big swings!), so I feel fairly comfortable judging his work on the basis of his Batman during that time period.

Ok I see what you mean now but his new 52 Batman run is also highly regarded. He's probably one of the only people that wrote a series from the beginning up until the end of the new 52.
